Default And Here We Go

Because of the attention stirred up by the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal and several pitbull attacks in Baltimore, the hunt is on for dog fighting supporters. I wonder how many innocent dogs will be caught up in this. Our interim Mayor, Sheila Dickson, is heading up the taskforce...but again, she is running for Mayor...wonder if this has anything to do with it?

It's a 50/50 right now...
Some innocent dogs will end up going down with this but at the same time, so will alot of dog fighting rings.

If you try to look at the bigger picture then we can hope that this will have some effect and that in a few years the reputation that pitbulls have now will be changing back into something pleasant.

Also I find this kind of solution much more palatable then a breed ban... when those happen then all innocent dogs are caught up instead of a few... it's certainly not a perfect solution however it's IMO a step in the right direction as opposed to the directions we've been heading in previously.

I'm just glad that the author pointed out that although pits have been breed to be dog aggressive (which is true) that they generally are NOT aggressive towards people. Finally, a media outlet that does not see animal aggression and human aggression as the same thing!

i have mixed feelings, too. dog fighting is often a big problem in major urban areas like baltimore. at the same time, the stuff they point to as "evidence" of pit bull fighting can be stuff as innocent as a spring pole or a treadmill, things often owned by totally responsible owners.

i wish there were an easy answer.
