Howdy!
Baloo, a three-month-old border collie, came to live with us on Sunday. He quickly got used to his new environment, and now we're working on crate training and basic commands. He still likes to tinkle in the house, but we're working on it. This is my first experience with a dog. Even though he's a little messy and very energetic, the rewards of owning this pup are already evident. I wouldn't trade my little furry guy for the world! Note to mods: heavyjay, who also just signed up, is my dad, so you'll see us coming from the same IP. No funny business...scout's honor. |

Thanks. Now if we could just get him to stop peeing in the kitchen. He poops outside twice a day and also pees almost every time he's out (which is at least 10 times a day, probably more), but he still pees in the kitchen 2 or 3 times a day. It's difficult to time him because sometimes it will be 10 minutes after he's peed outside, sometimes 30 minutes. I can't figure out what's going on in his head. Is he only doing his business outside because we're correctly guessing he needs to go, or does he know outside is for doing his business but also thinks the kitchen floor ok too?

When he goes outside - praise, praise, praise - treats, pets, "gooooood boooyyyyy" etc - make a HUGE deal of it. When he goes inside, clean it up and ignore him. He'll figure it out pretty quickly. Also, make sure you're using a good cleaner so that absolutely no odor is left.
