For me, it's the Collie. Mine do all of those things when asked.

There are Filas doing therapy work I could see Kharma enjoying it. Not every Fila would, but not every Golden Retriever would either, if you think about it.

If heart counts, the Aussie is, but having had an Aussie, I have to feel the same way about Aussies that I felt about all of my GSDs except for Bear, who was a GSD/Akita mix - they are too physically fragile to have to bear the responsibility for guarding by themselves.

Renee, I didn't mean to imply I didn't expect them to be able to do it. Just curious how that type of thing generally ranked withing stuff a breed (at least the general population of the bred) is naturally good at/enjoys.

Notice how most people are listing their breeds?

I'd say a Hovawart. They're amazingly versatile dogs.

A Beagle! He would herd the bunny, then eat it. He would hunt the duck, then eat it. He would guard the house, until a steak in the intruders hand was presented... then go lay down and eat. He'd do therapy work, as long as the facility had a kitchen. He'd do a weight pull, if you put a cookie jar on the track. Ha! My impresssion of a Beagle.

I was surprised when I found that there were quite a few Filas doing therapy work. Until I lived with them for awhile and got to realize what they REALLy are, as opposed to what we are told they are. There's a great deal of accuracy in the descriptions, but it doesn't begin to scratch the surface, and most of the time, the descriptions are from observing or living with Filas in a limited environment. I'm constantly and happily surprised at the elasticity of their intellect.
