Well, they were bred just for that matter. It's disgusting.

Well they pick that breed for fighting because they are extremely brave, High threshold of pain (won't go into shock as easy), not human aggressive (won't bite when injured), Take to new owners fairly easy (people who fight dogs sell and trade a lot), They are really strong and quick. They are naturally dominate (Not aggressive) with other dogs. When they do fight they rarely give up. (A term called "Game")

It truly is a shame though because they are wonderful family dogs and great comedians.

Unfortunately, there are always people trying to breed a "better" fighting dog. You'll find all sorts of crosses to get a stronger dog, harder bite, a sturdier dog, etc. And you'll find it all over the world. The Japanese have a very famous fighting breed, the Tosa Inu.

Have nothing against pitbulls, but I do dislike chows very much.

In my opinion 99% of them are worthless over dominant over agressive napoleons. All the bark and nothing to back it up, only causes trouble for other dogs.

At least in my experience....

Because people are ignorent and go by the media or once bad experience and base their whole veiw of the breed on that its stupid. I don't think you were here but not to long ago I went through a experience where my pitbulls and myself were attacked. Thsi was just because of their breed.

It is a shame, my cousin has a pitbull ***** that shocks some people when she runs full speed towards them, only to jump in their arms and start licking them.

The fact that they get lock jaw probably has a lot to do with wanting to ban them. My aunty nearly lost her finger when she tried seperating a staffy and pitbull when the pitbullīs jaws locked on around her finger, you could see the pitty couldnīt do anything against it and looked very sorry for itīs actions. My aunty shouldnīt have had her fingers close to 2 dogs that were fighting, and she knew it.

I think I should add that there is no physiological evidence of any kind of "locking" mechanism in the jaws of pits, bulldogs, or staffies. They do have strong jaw muscles, but the thing that keeps them holding on is tenacity, not a magic switch in their jaws.
