Default The Sled dog and the Show dog

Ok being a Musher and breeder of working quality and just good ol dogs in general of the Siberian Husky breed i am against the akc and any kind of showing of these animals.

Well about a year ago I was in town with Buck (Roxies son from her first litter and my pointdog). Buck looks and acts just like any other sled dog loud boustirouse and just willing to please not always the nicest to dogs outside of their ring of friends and family kind of dog. WellI brought Buck and his mummy Roxy to my brothers on a visit awhile back Buck was around 10 months old. Anyways it got to the point where my neice's Patton, Tatum and I decided to take Roxy and Buck on a nice walk (this was before they got Zero or Andre and lived in the city. Anyways we were walking Roxy and Buck when I women approached us along the sidewalk with her own Husky a VERY well groomed dainty looking Husky that looked like it walked on its toes lol. It just was clearly not a working bred dog. Anyways we stopped to talk a bit she obviousely noticed my dogs looked very different then her dog. She seemed to kind of look down on me because i bred to create pets and working dogs little did she know I was looking down at her.

She bragged about her awards and accomplishments in showing I bragged about my racing career and such. She mentioned she was a breeder as well and bred to create future champions in the show ring. That got under my skin a bit because i had mentioned before that I bred to having working dogs and future racing champions and I just rolled my eyes a bit. This entire time Buck not knowing the difference really between a working husky and showing husky play bowed at the show dog as a puppy will do. He proceeded to paw at the show dog and it just kind of backed up a bit ears back like "this puppy must be crazy" lol be eventually started pawing back and wagging her tail. I noticed this but did'nt really think about it and kepted on having my "friendly" debate with this women.

Buck had this womens dog so worked up she gave him a play bow and a quick femine yap and jerked her owner to the side to get Buck to Chase her Buck was already dragging poor Patton lol. The women said in a firm tone for her dog to heal and then went on her way with out saying anouther word. I then realized dogs don't care. They don't care how different they are in their minds their all the same. I already know this owning and breeding my Chins and having them living along side my Sibe or living with my pitties as well. To bad people can't be more like dogs. They are the best teachers

Its a shame when people breed just for the sake of a certain function, they should breed all round dogs, dogs that can work, that can show, that can do OB, sometimes breeders get narrow vision, and dont see the full potential. I have seen good working dogs that are excellent in the ring, I have also seen dogs that are soo glamorous and have never worked a day in its life, (not that it couldnt) and I have seen some that are working dogs that are butt ugly and conformationally incorrect but have so much heart they would work til they dropped, give me a good all round dog anyday.
