Default Should I add any suppliments??

I recently had to change Dukes food because of some abnormal blood results which the vet is thinking is just from a food allergy. So anyways I put him on California Natural Herring and Sweet Potatoe. This way I cancelled out anything and everything that could have possibly triggered a food allergy. (Im still not convinced it is a food allergy but thats awhole other topic) What I want to know that since he is on a fish diet now is there any vitamins/suppliments I should be adding into his diet because there is no more meat in it. Im not to knowledgable on food so I just want to be sure nothing is being missed in his diet that is needed.

I don't know all that much about supplements..........but I was wondering what he was eating before you switched to Cal Natural?

Just wondering what your Vet felt he may be allergic to in the prior food.

The vet was unsure about what the food allergy could be. The vet isnt even 100% sure it is a food allergy we are just treating it as one. He was on Performatrin before I switched him. I know Performatrin wasnt the best food but I had a hard time with his sensitive stomach and the performatrin was the first food that didnt give him diahrea for days so I stuck with it and he looked and was doing great on it. He had no symtoms of any food allergy or any reaction to anything at all it was just his blood work was off.

I think I would get some more specific information from the vet on what exactly was "off" in his bloodwork before I started trying to supplement his food with things. If you don't really know the problem, you can't begin to fix it..........and you can make it worse. There is definitely such a thing as too much of a good thing

The results that came back from the blood work showed his liver enzymes where slightly elevated as well as one type of his white blood cells. The vet said this usually indicates an allergic reaction (food, environment, parasite etc) Thats why they are treating it as a food allergy first and then after a month if his results are still off they will treat for parasites and go from there. I just wanted to know if feeding Duke the fish diet is there any vitamins he will be missing out on that he needs.

Why not allergy testing to rule out allergens other than food? I was told that a food allergy was pretty unlikely although NOT uncommon. We switched buddy to a fish food, did the allergy tests, got the results, treated him for what he was allergic to and switched his food back. He's been fine. If you are concerned about the nutritional value, I would consider a consult with Mordy- she's great!
