today i noticed an old feed sack in the middle of the floor at work so i tried to move it and it had something heavy in it!
my boss had put a dead cockrell in it. he found it dead before shutting them up last night. it was only young around 4 monthes i think but nice sized but no idea how it died. but rather then waste a nice meaty free range cock bird i asked to take it home for my dog! i got it home, plucked it! which took forever and gutted it and stuff and by the time i had butchered it i was covered in gross stuff! so thats around 3 days worth of chicken for him! for free! i tried to give him the insides but he didnt eat it. thats the only thing along with the head that i wasted. good huh! but i forgot i was wearing my gross clothes and took the dog for a long walk and people gave me A VERY WIDE BIRTH! go figure! its a chicken not human blood! oops. MANIAC LOOSE< COVERED IN BLOOD! SHOOT TO KILL!

No idea how it died? Laying around? I don't think I would feed that to my dogs.

I'm no expert but to be honest I wouldn't have wanted to feed a young bird I just found while I had no knowledge of how it died suddenly, either.

I'd definately just throw it out..
I wouldn't risk feeding it to my pup

i checked its crop and stomach contents and it was all fine. it hadent eaten anything nasty and he was in tiptop nick. no injurys or nothing wrong with his insides.
i raised him from a chick and have watched him grow and he was fine. its just something that happens sometimes. i will definatly keep an eye on my dog and feed a little to start with to make sure its safe. i was temted to eat him myself lol |

But how can you tell if it didn't die from some disease? You can't tell that from looking at the insides...I wouldn't feed some thing that died from unknown causes to my pups either...

everything dies for a reason...
I wouldn't feed it either -- "rather safe than sorry"

I would never feed it to my dogs =/
If you don't know how it died, and it was sitting out... plus, how long was it sitting out and dead for? I would rather spend my money on a healthy chicken rather then a young, dead chicken.
