Dixie ad Spiritus
That was her name, Dixie, meaning 10th. She was the last puppy born, the 10th puppy. Yesterday was a hard day. The down side of breeding - having to pts a three day old puppy.... The vet offered to take her and do it, but I said no. I held her as she came into this world... if she had to go, I would be holding her when she left it. And I did.
Dixie came home with me and is buried under an elm tree in the garden... the following picture was taken before we left for the vet yesterday morning.  Fly and be free - a new, itsy bitsy star is shining in the heavens.
