Blackmouth cur:
1. "A blackmouth what? What's that?"
2. Very hard to find a breeder
3. Only recognized by the UKC, so not always considered a "real breed".

Catahoula leopard dog:
1. Chaos demons
2. Chaos demons
3. Did I mention they're chaos demons?

I wish my breed wasn't as popular as it is, popularity has never done a breed much good. Cavaleirs weren't accepted into the AKC untill 1995 and are already 27th in the breed rankings for dogs registered with the AKC.

The one thing that does turn people off from the Cavalier is the massive amount of devastaing genetic problems that they are prone to. Unfortunately there aren't many people out there who realise how bad it really is. I've met quite a few Cavalier owners who didn't even realise there are any problems in the breed.

- Tons of energy
- Odd quirks that a lot of people find difficult to live with
- Extremely drivey and playful

Atleast, that's what I think turns people away from the breed anyway. There isn't anything I don't really like about them, and I've never asked anyone what would turn them away from the breed, so it was a little difficult for me to answer. I hope they never, ever become popular though.

Mountain Cur

1) "Curs are just mutts" i.e. nobody knows about them to look, at least here in the north.

Well, actually, that's the only one I can think of based on Meg . I could give her away 10x a day because she is so sweet and easy. Based on what I know of the breed, though,

2) A lovely mix of a terrier's tenacity and drive, with a hound's ability to shut off every incoming signal other than that coming through the nose.

3) Like most hunting dogs, a high exercise requirement. Actually, that is Meg too, but she's great off-leash and plays fetch (i.e. not #2), so it's easy for me to deal with.

Saint Bernard

To put it bluntly:

1) They snore
2) They're huge
3) they drool.

I've owned 6 saint bernards in my lifetime, and only one of them didn't snore, but it only lived to be 6. (saint bernards have a life span of 8-10 years)

Mixed breed... Well, where do I begin?

I could probably list more reasons why I love them to be honest, and I'd go as far as to say, they are the probably the most popular breed of dog in terms of ACTUAL numbers

Here anyway - you see far more mixes than you do pedigrees.

My breed, duh, Great Danes:

#1 reason someone would not own a dane:

SIZE (ironically, this is the same reason many DO own a dane)

#2 -

Lifespan - heartbreakingly short

#3 -

Could be a couple different reasons depending on the person...possibilities are:

Possibility of dog aggression and/or human aggression (Sadly they are in the top 8 on the Serious Dog Bites/Fatalities list)

Financial reasons (it's expensive to properly own a dane)

Border Collies -

Activity level

Intensity (or enthusiasm, or drive, or whatever you want to call it)

Size (some people want either a super small dog or a super big dog, so they don't like the border collie's size)

I wonder if other dogs think Cresties are members of some weird religious cult?

1. Reputation to be "yappy" little dogs

2. Size- they are very small... 2-6lbs in the breed standard.

3. Hyper
