 Such a great pic! Reminds me of the pics of my dad when he was young! Only he had cats not dogs!

i did not take anything but a few photos when they shut the kennels down..this was in a file of records and i didn't realize it was there until a few weeks ago. I am going to take it to his grandaughter..i doubt that his children (they showed very little respect for pop while i was there) would care one way or the other, in fact most of the kennel things went in a big dumpster out front..as i am sure this would have gone too..but the granduaghter did the feeding of the dogs when she was growing up and she has a bit of the love in her..so i will drop it off there. I also gave her half of the handful of lettering brushes that in one of his last remaining sane moments he gave to me..i would never use them.and have kept them oiled..she is a young artist and i thought she should have half of them as well. The pic is pretty torn up, but they can be restored..if i had the time i would do so myself..but she can handle that herself.

neither do i..but this was Missouri 1910 and the times were different then..not right,,but different. almost a hundred years has made some improvements tho i think we still have a long long long way to go.

I understand your consternation, Nedim and Smkie asked me to remove the name for her.
Times were different then. It might help you to understand some of the ways some of the old people who still do talk that way to know that terms like that weren't necessarily used as insults in the way they are today. Actually, the word was first used by Africans themselves to describe those of their number whose homes had been on the Niger River. The term expanded to include all Africans. It only became a term of insult and derision on the lips of those who were cowardly and bigotted. It hasn't been until the last two generations or so that it has come to stand for such insult.

I agree with Renee. Smkie didn't name the dog. She's giving us a peek at a beautiful old story. I for one really enjoy the picture and the snapshot of time that it's giving us.

Sorry if I missed it, but who's dog was this? What breed? Back then, Irish Setter's looked thicker like that beautiful dog. Was it an Irish Setter? BEAUTIFUL PIC!
