Default Is Hershey breed standard??

Well, I am just curious if Hershey is up to breed standard, he is 23" at the shoulder. He looks like a Labrador.. lol, but I am just curious if he is breed standard. Kind of curious. He may not be.. But ya know. I would love to show him, but he is neutered, and now I can't.. And I couldn't anyways. Thank you for reading!

there is tons of things that make a dog breed standard or not. do you have a picture of his profile. honestly unless you get a dog from a show breeder its probably not. or thats the impression i am under anyway. Ruckus came from a show breeder but he is not the standard. at the kennel i work at, all of the parents are champions but most of the puppies are not the standard. but when i say standard i mean "show prospect"
there is a lot of opinion involved in saying if a dog is the standard or not. everyone has there idea of the standard in there heads, and lots of peoples idea differs.
make since?

go to AKC website and look up the lab standard.

I am not mad, hehe, thats why I asked! Maybe field. He looks like it sort of, but at least he looks like a Labrador. I was just curious if he was show standard. I will look at that in a little bit, after I cook dinner. lol, I am bad at cooking.. lol

Theoretically all dogs (field and show) fit the standard... standards are open to interpretation so MANY dogs fit it.

For the most part, both of mine fit it too... are they breeding dogs, heck no!

No dog is going to fit it perfectly.

You could always take him to a breeder or have some judges evaluate him. Also sometimes specialties have special closes for altered dogs.

Nemo is in no way "Standard" do I care? No I don't~ I love him no matter what. He is a Maltese and he weighs 10 pds and I can't tell you how many times I had to be reminded he is not standard and might even be a full blooded Maltese cause he came from a petstore. To me he is all Maltese and I couldn't care less what anyone says. However my next dog will be from a reputable breeder only because of the health. I don't want a 4pd dog, I know Maltese are supposed to be within (4 to 7 pds) but I like the fact Nemo is a little sturdy and his face is my heart so I really don't care to much what other people think. I used to go off on people for preaching , but they are trying to help and only saying the truth, I now have more patience with people, sometimes they mean well just don't know how to say it right.
I think Hershey is gorgeous and I would be thrilled owning him

I'd say that your dog is actually within standard, just not show quality. There's a difference. The Collie standard has no disqualifying faults, but they can be so severely penalized for certain faults, like head flaws, that they will never win. However, I wouldn't say a dog with minor head faults would be considered "out of standard" unless they were so severe that they appeared foreign to the breed. (For example, common cosmetic faults such as prick ears or full stop - it would not be show quality but I wouldn't call it 'out of standard' if it was of correct structure, size, color, coat and temperament).

It's a fine line sometimes.
