Exactly. And she is so bold about it. Most BYB'ers would at least use the excuse that they liked the breed or something I would think. Not come right out and say that the reason they breed them is because they are popular.

I can't wait either. Though sometimes they don't bother to reply, no matter how tactful you are.

Hi, I ran across your site and have a few questions about your kennel.
What health screening and tests do you do? OFA, CERF, etc. etc.
What food do you feed?
What about your dogs is exceptional to pass on?
What titles do your dogs have? Whether conformation, working, or CGC, CGN, TDI, etc.

Thank you very much!

And her response was:

These sites are terrible. But you know what, back in 2005 I was one of the people who would have bought from them I didn't know about puppy-mill and BYB ..I bought Nemo from a petstore and shortly after I joined another forum and learned SO much I couldn't believe how , well I call it dumb others call it misinformed I was! Now I can look at any site and know if they are reputable or not. It's great we all posts these sites so people who come here can see what is reputable and what isn't

You're right, Nemogirl. Lucy came from a pet store before I know better. A lot of us have had dogs from a pet store or BYB before we learned about what makes a good breeder.

Well here is her next response:

Quote:
Hi.....well i am more of just a fun hobby breeder. I just guarantee genetic health for one year. I only take a pup to the vet if the tails need to be docked or if they are sick which i have never had to do yet. You can tell if a puppy is healthy or not. All i can go by is that the parents aren't having any health problems. I feed purina puppy chow and purina bentiful dry food and some wild or beef meat scraps. They are dewormed regularly. I don't show or anything. I just really like dogs and puppies so i decided to breed dogs. It is something that i always wanted to do. I have only been doing it for 2 years now other then i always had a female dog having pups but not that much before. I guess they pass on their parents good nature and make good companions.

Wow that vet part is really bad!! what about the vasccines???

The "breeders" that dosen't inmunize they dogs are the worse of all.

I remenber my aunt buying a shar pei puppy like 6 years ago, I'm pretty shure he was from a puppy mill but my aunt didn't knew about.

A month later when the puppy was home he died of distemper, looking at his sad sick face days before he died was hearthbreaking.

Those persons refuse to inmunise they dogs are the type of people that can't think an animal have feelings.
