Default Is Canidae the new Uber-Food?

I've noticed - everywhere, not just here on Chaz - that a large number of people are either feeding Canidae or switching to it... I think it's interesting to see how trends change in dog food.

I know I used to be a staunch supporter of Natura, and while I still think it's a great food, I don't feed it. My dogs do just as good on Canidae, for less money and greater availability.

About a month ago, I convinced a friend who had fed another brand for YEARS to switch, and now she's recommending it to others! ( )

Is it just me, or is Canidae gaining popularity at a startling rate? Or, are Canidae feeders just coming out of the woodwork? OR, was Canidae not a "popular" fod to feed, and people are just now brave enough to tell others on internet forums what they've been feeding?

I'm thinking about switchign to Canidae, both for variety and because it's a little bit bigger bag for a little less money (like 3 bucks). It's harder to find though, only one store in 50 miles carries it. But it's only like 15 minutes away from me, just hard to get to.

I think it probably meets a lot of peoples' criteria at an acceptable level of pain at the check out.

I don't foresee changing mine from EVO to Canidae though - it just doesn't offer the same things, and mine are thriving. I wasn't all that impressed with it when I originally started researching before choosing a feed for these dogs after I compared it to the original Innova, and, for my dogs' needs, it pales further by comparison to the EVO. But not every dog has the same needs.

Once I get some steady training going, I'm going to try a bag or two of EVO...I just can't do it right now though.

I like Canidae, but my dogs don't. =/

It is substantially cheaper than the Innova EVO I feed now, but Ripley just won't readily eat it and Dakota does poorly with a lot of grain in his diet. It would probably work for Eve, but once she starts serious stockwork I'm going to be taking her off kibble anyway. *shrug*

Canidae is actually one food I never tried with my dogs. I think that Canidae is one of those foods that definately gives "the best bang for your buck." It's one of the foods that I always recommend to people... for the ingredients, you can't beat the price. It is also a product that is pretty easy to find for most people. The thing is, my dog bakery offers a very wide variety of foods, and there are many more foods that appeal to me. Also, price isn't an issue, since my dogs are so small.

However, I like to stick with grainfree foods, which Canidae doesn't offer.

My dogs won't tolerate EVO- well two of them won't. They all like Canidae and it works well for them. All Life Stages is nice too since we have such a variety of ages in the house. It's not that expensive and it has nice ingredients.

I keep trying to convince my parents to try to switch Beau back to raw since he did so well on it, but to no avail yet. We'll see, I'm still trying.

Hasn't Canidae also started advertising though?

I fed EVO for awhile, but the cost just got too high - with one dog that eats 2 cups a day and another that eats 5-6... that's waaaaayyy too pricey for me.

Besides, the level of protein makes me nervous, since dobes can have kidney problems. After awhile I started worrying and onsessing over the effects of EVO on my dogs' kidneys, so I switched to something else that would make me feel a bit more at ease. Probably nothing to worry about, but it made me feel better...
