Default help choosing the right food for our rottie

hi everyone,
we have just adopted a 6 week old rottie puppy that we will be bringing home later this week. We hve been reading online about health issues with this breed, and were wondering if anyone could suggest a good brand of dog food??

Are you adopting the pup from a shelter or are you getting him/her from a breeder? Even if you take the pup at 7 weeks it is still very young and should at least stay with it's mother and litter mates until 8 weeks old

I've fed Canidae for almost a year now with great results. http://www.canidae.com.

Wow I never heard of those foods before.

Unfortunlly in my country tey only sell pedigree, dog chow, proplan and rarely royal canine of the USA brands.

The others are nasty foods made in guatemala or other central america countris callled dogy, super can and ascan XD

They are so super colored the poo is dark pink or red and not the natural brown..

are you 100% sure they don't sell it anywhere? Check all the small pet and feed stores and see if you can find it. If you still have no luck then go with royal Canin.

I feed Canidae and raw. I didn't think about you not being able to find all of the premiums we have here! For a Rottie pup, I'd reccommend you try to find the Pro-Plan Select. (might be more difficult, as not all grocery stores carry it here. You often have to go to pet store.) If you can find the Select Turkey, single source protien, it is an upgrade from Purina, Pedigree and reg. Pro plan formula. Comparable to Royal Canins' Sensible Choice. I've found large breeds do quite well on this food if you have to feed a "grocey store" food. I have fed this to boarding dogs whose owners are not using a premium and have not had a problem with palatablitity, loose stools, or skin problems and ingredients are, again, comparable to some of the mid-range premiums like Sen. Choice.

What country do you live in?

I agree, if you have to choose from the ones you listed, go with Royal Canin or Pro Plan...

You said you are adopting your puppy? Is it coming from a shelter? If it's coming from a breeder, please know that 6 weeks is WAY too young to bring a pup home.
