Gee, here's a thought...

Instead of subjecting her depressed dog to mulitple litters, perhaps she could consult an animal professional. I had a dog that was placed on prozac. It helped. And whiles she's at it, she should pick up some prozac for herself, because if she believes all the BS she's spouting, she needs some help too.

*Sigh* she looks old and tired. She needs a good couch to sleep on! Old dogs are NOT puppies, that's why we love adopting them! They like to sleep, they like to eat, and they like to play some, But just as happy sleeping!

Maybe she is thinking her behavior is depression when it is just old and tired... Could be dietary along with it as she is probably lacking in something having all these litters.... I know when a freind adopted her dog it had just had puppies and was on dog chow, getting her on a high quality and spayed energized her and put life into her.

Here is a tip for them, Reasearch the vet first, and pay out the extra $$ for some pain pills!

i am the first to admit i have absolutely no experience with this sort of thing. But if your dog accidentally gets pregnant, shouldn't you just GIVE the puppies away and get the dog fixed ASAP?

Getting the dog fixed, yes. Giving puppies away for free isn't a good idea, however, because some people will swear up and down they want to give a puppy a good home, then sell it to medical researchers (I believe they pay up to $40 or $50 for a dog or cat) or feed it to a snake. Also, some people don't value animals they get for free. "Missy's sick but I'm not taking her to the vet. She was free, it's not like she's worth anything." Sad, isn't it?

if your dog accidentally gets pregnant (especially in the chi breed where c-sections and risks to the mother are high) its highly advisable to do an emergency abort/spay.

I never suggest giveing the puppies away a small adoption fee to just cover puppy vacinations and to weed out those taking free pups because there collectors or worse reaserch labs.
