Default Kennel pics

I don't have many pictures from my days as a trainer and kennel kid..but thought i would share ..for all those wonderful labradors i remember..there is no one else anymore that cares about these memories. I have a video. but it is vhs. I wish it was on a cd, so i could at least let u see my two dogs that lived thru the most awful parvo virus, to grow up into the handsome dogs, the prides of the kennel. Maybe one day i can have it reproduced, but until then,,i thought you might like these.
The white lab seen as a puppy and as an adult was born of two black parents..there were two sisters..Chalk and Princess..both amazingly strong and healthy.and infertile. I guess that was nature's way of keeping the genes strong. Mother Superior BB with her 14 puppies..The pond where dogs first learn to get their feet wet and (dive a little for dramatics) started their water work..one of the dogs my boss taught to ski..and the old man and me on a float trip with his favorite labrador, Star.

wish i did...this was a long time ago..when the kennels closed, my old boss went to a nursing home, his mind completely gone..and the family disposed of everything. They did not share pop's enthusiams for dogs..i think the resented being "birdboys" at an early age and detested the whole affair.I was not considered by any of them tho i worked as his right hand "man" for 20 years. They put a big dumptser outside and loaded it full with things from the sign shop (the business that kept the kennels going) and carted the rest from the house off somewhere. I drove by only once to see the trophy case that was once shelved with silver goblets and trays won by hard work and determination..sitting empty..that was enough for me..i never went back. I do have a pic somewhere of the two dogs he won 1 and 2 National with..but it is packed away and i am not sure where..if i ever do run across i will post for the trophies side by side with the two siblings Nip and Tuck are a sight to behold. Old Boss was something else...his dogs worked for him like nobody i have met since. I have qouted his three rules for raising a puppy over and over again..they were as important then as i think they should be now. It is amazing to look back and realize that now all is gone..and no one remembers but me.

if you look in my gallery you will see that Tatey looks very much like this line of dog..and Charlie was a king!!!!! of good breeding. These are field dogs ..not show. The show labs tend to have a boxier head and a heavier body not suitable for the hard driving trials. They were bred for instinct and temperment first..the beauty of them was an added a bonus.

There's nothing like a good dog doing what it was meant to do, Smkie.
