I recently got 2 baby ferrets. One I've had for about a month and we recently discovered he is deaf. He is albino so the vet says that is quite common in albino ferrets. Does anyone else have an albino ferret, and if so are they deaf? I was just wondering because I CAN NOT train this guy not to bite. Ofcourse saying no doesn't work, and bitter apple works some. Any suggestions?

my brother had a ferret, but not deaf, you could try physically moving him when he bites, like picking him up and putting him aside. or just make big gestures, if he is not completely deaf, yelling loudly mite work

We've tried that. I will phsyically pick him up and move him away when he gets too mean to me but he just keeps running back. He'll start off playing and then just get meaner and meaner. He is completely deaf though, you can tell he is just completely oblivious to sound of any kind.

I have a friend who has an albino ferret that was deaf. I will e-mail her and see if I can get an answer from her. She has two ferrets too, but one of them has had to have a lot of surgeries b/c she keeps getting tumors. But she is still trucking along.

Being deaf he is probably going to be much more defensive and nervous than other ferrets. Moving slowly will probably help too. Bitter apple is a good idea.

Well, I can't give you much advice, but a really good website for any of your Ferret related problems would be www.ferretvillage.com . When I was looking for Ferret info, I came across this site. The members there are really helpful and will answer all of your questions.
