Such an old breed.
I say typey, since looking online, the dog looked very "ruggedly" bred.
Not for looks, but rather for abilities.
Glad to see they are getting a little bit of recognition. I used to think they were headed for extinction.

lol I won't say what we called ours from time to time but hubby did name him DOG
watched too many westerns.
He claims that the shorter the name the easier to call when working.
Although I hate to agree with him lol he is right on that but DOG ?
He wants to name the pup dog too! not happening !

Hey did you read about a genetics study that followed the genetic mutation responsible for Ivermectin sensitivity. The sensitivity was found in the Australian Shepherd, Collie, English Shepherd, Longhaired Whippet, McNab, Old English Sheepdog, Shetland Sheepdog, and Silken Windhound. It was not found in any significance in either the Kelpie or the Border Collie. Interesting stuff.

first I could not read it it was too small and as with most all dogs there is something in every breed. I know the ones I have owned had no health issues and before I get one I will have it checked out because this is not a rescue it is a purchase. Thank you for the heads up though.

Its not a just a health issue, its a brilliant way to study the evolution and breeding of these breeds!

How did the Ausie Collie decendents avoid the gene, while all the North American ones have it, ect.
