What type of information in particular or will just about anything do?

This is going to be my next dog. A friend of mine has 2 and they (while not for first time dog owners) are wonderful dogs. I've only trained a handful, another reason why I'm looking at this breed....they're not over bred and the few breeders here in Canada are very protective of their breed and what happens to it.
What exactly do you want to know?

They require grooming for upkeep, can be trained for high levels of obedience but can be stubborn, they have a inate defense drive.
Must buy from breeders who clear them for HD.

Beautiful, intelligent dogs. I never liked the scruffy look of them but after getting to know a couple and learning about their temperament, I've grown to love their looks as well. The ones I was very close to (one has since passed on, one is 4 years old) were very protective, but not overreactive. They were obedient but also quite independent and strong willed. The male I knew was very dominant with strangers, he did a lot of posturing at first when someone new came into the house. He tolerated other, submissive dogs but not dominant males. The female I know is more submissive and agreeable than the male was.
I'd love to have one someday.
