Default Gsp And Kelpie

Im interested in getting a German shorthaired pointer and later, a kelpie. i wanna do agility with them, they will get two walks a day if i cant take them every where, thats what i wanna do. Also, would it be better to get them together, or would it be a bad idea to have 2 puppies? what do u think?

Two pups is hard, and I can tell you that from experience. Have you researched the breeds you are interested in, to make sure they're the right dogs for you? I'd reccomend getting one pup, then later getting another.

It would be a bad idea to have two puppies. JMO. One puppy alone requires a lot of attention, two would be very stressful.

I can't help but ask, why a Kelpie as opposed to another breed that could excel in agility? Working Kelpies are even more intense and serious than your average herders like BCs, ACDs, etc. Are you sure you want to take on a dog that will NEED to work on a daily basis?

I wouldn't get two puppies at a time. I have never owned two puppies at one time, but I can tell you that it must be pretty hard, LOL. There's no way I could take care of two human babies by myself. My two-year-old nephew is a handful by himself!

LOL Gaddy, you're right; two is a handful and a half. Best to get one at a time.

Don't want to sound mean, but do you realize how much exercise a Kelpie (and a GSP) needs? I don't know how your walks are, but a Kelpie would need to jog for couple of miles. Not just walk. But if you have researched the breed(s), then good luck! And I'd stay away from two pups at the same time, too. Especially a GSP pup and a Kelpie! Talk about a LOT of activity! lol I'd go insane.

A Kelpie is an Australian Kelpie. They are related to Aussie Cattle dogs. Here is a picture along with a link: Kelpie info

Thanks, Rose! I can see now why they're so energetic; they have that herding, working drive!
