Default Is going to get a puppy in the Spring!

Well, my mom decided to get a puppy in the Spring. She is waiting until I am out of school, and all that. I think I am going to get a Golden Retriever. Female. I prefer Females over males. There is nothing wrong with males though. but, I was curious, on how I am going to keep the dog from shedding soo much. Cause I have a cat that sheds, and he is long-haired also. I am pretty sure, I want a Golden Retriever though. But they shed a lot, and I am hoping I can train it to be a house dog. Well, any ideas? Thanks for reading!

Well,, plan on lots of training because Goldens NEED to be house dogs, period!

As far as the shedding goes, first thing to do is accept that the dog will shed. Next, make sure you feed a very healthy diet supplemented with Omega 3 fatty acids which will help keep shedding to a minimum. Lastly, groom your dog regularly.

Good luck with your new puppy when you get it

I think Golden would be a great choise...but I am baised some

Just make sure that you can find a good breeder that does health test on there dog and has contracts for there pups.

I am sure that Grammy can help with any questions you have with the breed...seeing as she bred and raised Goldens!

I am planing on getting a Golden in the Future for showing and some Therapy work....I cannot wait!

If you have any training questions you can ALWAYS PM me any time!

Good Luck!

hehe, I think I may go Miniature. xD with the Schnauzer. It is better for our money situation. xD And our salary. :3 (Since we already have a large dog) Minis don't eat as much, as big dogs do. :3 And crate things, and all that is cheaper. except when buying the Mini. I am doing good on my chores so far. My mom is impressed how I am doing, I think she thought that I wouldn't do it. hehe.

Well just remember that not EVERYTHING is cheaper with a small dog

Just ask some of the people on here that have small dogs...they break bones easier, they may have more health problems.

But only you know what dog is right for your family!

Let us know!!

I like big and little dogs! I have a fairly small dog(jack russel) and I love her as much as if she were big! I hope you decide on what's best for your family!

Maybe you've been looking for love in all the wrong places. A dog will treat you better than anyone you'll meet!
