Unhappy Rehoming Stella

Sad but true I am considering rehoming Stella.

Zoom.. I know I told you in a PM that I was going to keep both dogs.. I've decided to keep Binn.

Due to events in my personal life I feel it best if Stella found a new home.

She has stopped tolerating Binn and is becoming mean towards him.

I have to keep them in separate area's or she will go after him. Both switch out between out side time. They each get a few hrs by themselves in the backyard to play and what not.

I've considered obedience school for Stella, even private sessions, but with whats going in my life obedience class is expensive at the moment.

I feel like a rat for taking her in and then having to rehome her 2 months later.. but I am realizing that Stella is a 1 person dog.... something that the shelter failed to tell me, among other things.

If you would like her.. or know someone that would.. I would be happy to make arrangements.. if not then she will go to a Saint Bernard Rescue.

I'm really sorry to hear that... I was wondering how things are going with her and Binn...

her DA rules her out for my house...

Good luck... the shelter you got her from doesn't have a return policy? The saint rescue sounds like a good choice - people who are experienced with the breed may be able to help her further with her issues

Oh no... You seemed so happy with her! That is terribly sad. Is there really no other way? Have you read some books? Maybe get at least one consultation with a good trainer?

You know... I dont know

That place was a train wreck to begin with. They didn't seem to care much about Stella. She would not be returning to the same place. A SB rescue center is where I want her to go.

I'm so sorry to hear about Stella Do you think maybe getting a good training book and working with her might help?

I know... Im really torn with this decision, but Binn is my main concern. She really does not like him. She almost went through the screen to get to him. She growls at him, bares her teeth. She has never hurt him physically but she does go out of her way to let him know she doesn't like him.

Walks and trips to Petsmart are out of the question. She has gotten quite big and very fat.. its a weight issue between her and I. Im very small.. she's very big. She walks me instead of I walking her.

If I was able to work with her one on one with a trainer that would be best.. but that is expensive. She knows basic commands but she has behavior problems.

Aw, I'm very sorry to hear that. I would be concerned too, particularly with Binn's health issues. I would exercise all your options for training before you rehome her, but if you can't make it work, I can understand . . .

I hope you are able to work things out. If not, I can't take her, but I wish you (and Stella, and SB rescue if you go that route) luck in finding a great home.

Maybe the St. Bernard rescue org. works with a trainer who might do pro-bono work. I mean, maybe they'd help you make it work with Stella rather than taking her on themselves, rehabilitating her, and then re-homing. If I were you, I'd call them, say you rescued her from a lousy shelter, that she really needs lots of help, and your finances are limited. Maybe they would help you!
