Default Sooo happy and proud

well kids started coming about 1/2 hour or so and of course I knew they were near the house before they were even near the door the dogs didn't even bark but they wanted to see. After the first one, I took out the 2 marrow bones that I had in the freezer, boiled them, and let them cool gave them to the dogs and voila only me at the door hahaha

You probably don't know that but you should not give cooked bone of any kind to dogs... they can splinter and cause severe injuries. Give them raw.

raw??? I don't get it just raw not cooked as in uncooked really?? I was always told that you should not give raw meat to a dog they will go wild or something or another. I've never seen a marrow bone splinter. well I guess I will take it away as soon as I cannot watch my dogs. back to the grocery store for raw ones I guess boy those things, they don't teach you in vet teck courses

yuppers Raw is the way to go.

cooking a bone like that and then giving it to your dogs changes the structure of the bone itself and causes it to loose its density. So when the dog is chewing the bone - they have the possiblity of splintering and if the dog happens to eat that splintered bone they could end up with some severe problems!!

Buy them from your butcher shop - keep them cool in the fridge and just feed straight like that. DONT let them eat it on a carpet though lol it can get messy.

Riot LOVES his beef marrow Soup Bones! I like to buy the ones that have a good chunk of meat left on them. Riot loves it lol

Nope - it doesn't make the dog "wild" either. Dogs have natural enzymes in their tummys that break down any "raw" meat they happen to eat as well. So no worries about getting sick afterwards.. unless of course your pup has a sensative stomach.

i wonder how many times ive been told "Raw Makes your dogs go wild and bloodthirsty!?"
though it is funny to think of 2 (now 3) wild, evil, bloodthirsty chihuahuas running round.
It is of course an old wives tale, raw meat wont make your dog insane and bloodthirsty or any wilder than it already is...
it will however give them a great smile AND a wonderfull luster in their coat as well as shiney clean teeth!
not to mention the look of excitment on thier face when they see those yummy bones comming out of the fridge and knowing there getting fresh marrow (my guys spend hours removing the marrow lol)

I usually throw out a bone after all the meat is gone from it and Riot seems to have lost interest in it. It usually takes him maybe 2 days for this. make SURE you keep it in the fridge though or it will go bad.

He gets a new one maybe 1X a week IF that.
