This is the national group for ESS, with links to regional. We adopted Fergus through ESSCLI. We were shortlisted for a dog since we owned a Springer for 14 years previously. I filled out an application form. Then I was contacted by the initial interviewer and she learned what I knew about the breed. I got passed to the coordinator who ran down a list of possible dogs for me and we narrowed down the choices from the list of dogs. She was good and steered me to the dog that fit us best. Very good experience all around. Once a rescue, always a rescue, we can only surrender the dog back to them.

This is the rescue where I adopted my Dobie... I was very impressed with them. Fair, reasonable adoption policies and well cared-for dogs. They have Dobermans, Dobie mixes and some small dogs.
They even tested the dog I chose on the spot with an older small dog and a cat to get a sense of whether she'd be okay with my little old dog and cat at home. Great rescue organization! http://www.dobierescue.org/

My wife and I have started a community-based site where we donate proceeds to dog rescues several times each year. We invite people to join a photo contest and select a charity to win if their photo wins. We believe in the work rescues do and will work to add the rescues you've placed on this post. Feel free to go to our site and suggest others for our program.
