Some one I know used retractable leads with his siberians when walking, as they are not really the dog you allow to run of lead, last year one of the dogs ran very quickley and hit the full length of this lead for somereason the lead unclipped and shot back into his face and severly damaged his eye, this has left him partially blind now, after this happened I refused to use one with my dogs.

I use a leash on Toki that is only 3.75 foot away from me. He doesn't pull and he knows when to slow down if Im tired so no point of me to use a retractable. Im sure retractables are good to use for dogs that pulls and you just feel like your getting dragged by dog. Oh well.

OMG! Can you imagine mine on retractables? All they'd need is more leash to get up a good head of steam if they were to decide to take off . . . Short leashes for my bunch!
When I've got the two of them I use 4' leashes. I just love the funny looks I get when I've got both girls leashed side by side. If I've got Bimmer with them I put him on a 6' leash so he can walk a bit ahead of them. I guess he's my lead dog, hm, Pits?

Renee, I hope they don't see something when you're walking them. I can just imagine you being pulled/dragged? by 3 dogs. Wish I could see a pic of the 3 of them together. How big are Shiva & Kharma now? I just love those little (ha ha) girls!

Yeah, Renee, when are you going to post some more recent pictures??? I used to have a retractable leash, but it didn't last long. I had never used one before and thought I would try it out. Well, needless to say, I don't use it anymore. I've seen some people walking their dogs with those leashes, and they are so long, that when the dog wants to run, they can build up plenty of speed, then they hit the end of the leash, and it just kind of yanks them back. Not a fan of those things.

Oh I just noticed something. I took Toki out for a walk in my neighbor hood and usually im the only one but that day someone also took their dog out for a walk with a retractable. Once the dog saw us the dog jump out to bark at us and the dog was on the street about 25 feet. Can you image your dog doing that in main street.
