well I called and spoke with the woman, the breeder. She'd seemed like an ok woman, didn't do any health tests though (ofcourse). She did have a waiting lists for her puppies though, so I'm on the waiting list for a lab (hehehe...I'm bad). I'm not going to buy from her but just wanted to show interest to keep her talking. She mostly just talked up the dog's personalities (the parents that is) telling me how good the parents are and all that jazz.

Did you ask about the health of the parents? i.e., the actual weight in numbers? I say 110lbs, minimum.

Sheesh, Labs in general, the show types anyway, seem to have pretty much been wrecked. If I was looking to buy a Lab these days, I would only consider the "field type". Taller, longer, and still able to really cover ground, they are still pretty good, health wise. The neighbor's one is finally calming down at 3, but is still really hyper. Nice Dog though. Actually more obnoxious with other dogs than King is (and that's pretty bad!), who barely tolerates his humping and stuff.

About 70 pounds for a male.

There are "monsters" out there, that are about double a normal Lab's weight. The neighbor's black monster is still growing, and is nearly 140 pounds. He's not fat at all, kind of skinny actually. His brother was visiting and is exactly the same size. He's got a head on him that's about 15" long, and the teeth are huge! He's a great dog, but keeps coming into my yard, where Molly still makes him miserable. She doesn't want him in her yard, and harrasses him until he leaves. King barely responds to him being there, and usually just ignores him. Last week, he growled at Molly, and King ran up and gave him the eye, and over on his back he went.

King and Molly together don't weigh more than 125 pounds. It's pretty funny to see Molly chase him around the yard, "punching" him the entire time.
