....is painful! lol I have 1 big blister and 2 small blisters on my right hand as well as a rope burn. Sunday's some volunteers get a group together and we walk as many as the dogs as we can. Well we have had quiet a few dogs that we though would have a really horrible time getting a home getting adopted! Like this pair of two 8 yr old, black labs (brother and sister) got adopted yesterday by a couple. I was shocked because they had to be adopted together and looked old! But I was happy shocked!
Then this yellow lab named sunshine got adopted by a lady yesterday also. This dog was very sweet, but it's front left food was pretty useless to the dog. It had to be crushed or something because it just hung there. The vet's said it would have to be amputated. But the staff explained all the medical parts to this lady and she still wanted to adopt sunshine. Then the vets talked to her just to make sure she totally understood the medical things the dog would need and the lady adopted sunshine that day! ![]() Now I'm off track, but I went walking earlier today. We all got two dogs walked till they where tired. I first got Blue, a two year old ?? husky that was soo energetic and needs some serious training! She pulled like all hell! But I ran with him and he soon got tired to the point of at least not yanking my arms off! I put two collars and leashes on him just in case, one was a martingale collar. This dog really needs some place that he can run and run and run as well as have a job to do! I swear he would be awesome on a sled! But then I got Katy, a rottie ??? mix. She was a BIG puller also! but she tired out a lot faster then Blue did. She didn't seem to like any of the dogs other then her kennel mate, which with that many dogs at a time there are bound to be some who don't like each other, so I walked with the person who had her kennel mate and pretty much kept a bit of distance with the other dogs. Man it was hot though! We hosed the dogs down and got them water after each loop (we usually do two loops) and got them all tired so they wouldn't go nuts tomorrow. But some of these dogs have SOOO much energy these kennels are just not a good place for them at all! P.S. OMG!! We have smilies!!! LOL

that's a cool thing to do. i hear that leather leashes are easier on the hands when walking a dog that pulls hard.

Never heard that, but I don't think the shelter will be going out to buy any leather leashes any time soon! All of the leashes and most collars are donations.

Now there's a thought!
I'm looking for a rolled leather collar for my dog and I guess I can see how much a leather leash would cost! If it's not too much I may as well buy one! Thanks for the idea! I could definetly use less punishment on my hands!

Lol
You gotta love the dogs, even when they are pulling your arms off After wards dogs that have been bouncing off the walls just want to go get another drink and lay down lol They are cute little devils
