The "work" blues
You ever tell yourself that you couldnt hate work more than you do, only to find that to be completely false? I do alot of grunt work at my job-lifting 50lb+ bags of animal food, stocking shelves, taking care of and replacing hundreds of cases of cans, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I also have to know everything there is to know about any pet animal someone could possibly keep. And, not to mention having to answer questions about dog nutrition and even some medical related issues. And then if you dont know the details about a certain product, you get grilled by the customer. Some customers just kill me with the disrespect. I've even been called a "worthless pile of ****" by one "lady" because our store didnt have dog treats in that were advertised in our flyer. Yesterday, one of our regular customers comes in-she always buys 4-5 44lb bags of pedigree that I have to load up and place in her car for her. Well we only had 2 in stock, so she says she's gonna take those. When I tell her that I need to run to the backroom to et a car to load it in, she has the nerve to ask me "well do you really need a cart for just two bags?" Im standing there like NO ****!!! She expected me to carry 88lbs of food for her from the back of the store to the back of her van. People think they can treat you like **** because youre young and work minimum age at a petstore. Abd thats another thing- I've been promised a raise not once, but TWICE-by both a manager AND the actual owner of the store. I have never seen an increase in my pay stub. I'm getting payed the same (and in some cases less) than other workers and I bust my ass twice as hard as most of them getting my work done. It pisses me off when the female employees (no offense to anyone here) dont get theyre stuff done because it was "too much for me to lift". WTF is that??!! Then I have to get theyre **** done AND my own stuff done so that my boss doesnt flip out. ****, its exploitation is what it is. And let me tell you some of the disgusting things I have to put up with. We get alot of stupid little teenie boppers coming in and talking about theyre new puggle or poo-chi and how theyre mis-behaving because theyre mad. I have to stand there and just listen to all theyre **** and it literally makes me sick to hear what theyre saying. Half these dogs are gonna wind up in ****ing shelters a month from now! Oh, and two nights ago some lady brings in her little yorkie and he pisses all over a donation basket we have for the shelter and he shits all over the dog aisle diarreah style. Guess who had the pleasant task of cleaning tha up? The smell was so bad that you could smell it half way down the aisle, no bull. I nearly puked right on the spot. And tonight, Im putting out stock and as Im walking down the dog aisle, I spot this just chilling in the middle of the aisle.
 I'm thinking to myself, WTF????? How do panties wind up on the floor of a petstore??? With all this **** I have to put up with, I want to talk to my boss about a raise, but Im not sure how to go about doing it. Whats the best way to ask, because my buddy has been working there for a year, and hes still only pulling in minumum ($6.75). Thanks for reading, I REAAALLLYY needed to get that off my chest.

Wow you really do have the work blues! I can't believe people would be so rude, your helping them out so how do they have the nerve to treat you like that!!! (((((((HUGS))))) I hope it picks up and you get the raise you deserve so much!!!

my son could join you in that song..his first night didn't bode well at all.Especially when the guy in the next truck said ":welcome to hell".
Sorry your having a ruff go of it..on the other side, lifting all those 50 lbs bags will give you strength that will last you forever. I was a skinny little girl and i hefted a lot of them, not nearly as much as a pet store but still i am quite strong decades later.

I'm sure nothing I can say will cheer you up...cept it's good to vent. AND, besides listening, I will ALWAYS send you a HUGE ((((HUG)))). the public...yikes, it's difficult! I'm thinking along the lines as Renee......makes ya really want to think about college.
ok...the panties on the floor is just plain freaky. more (((hugs))).
