Default Help!! Determining fat in a dog food

My dog, Spanky, has been sick. He's at the veterinary hospital right now for overnight observation. The vet called to say he is dehydrated, and they're waiting on lab results. I don't know what all tests they've done, but one that he mentioned was pancreatic (function?).

He's thrown up off and on, and a couple of times with some blood. The vet suspects a possible stomach ulcer. He thinks his diet may need to be changed and that he may need to have a lower fat diet.

He's currently on Eagle Pack Holistic, but just for a week now. Prior to that, he was on Nutro brand food.

I'm supposed to pick him up tomorrow with some information on his current food, Eagle Pack. The vet wants to know the fat content, and the label says Crude Fat, Min. 15%. The vet wants to know how they calculate fat content. I'm not sure where to get that information. Does anyone know?

If I were you, I'd contact John Marsman, the nutritionist at Eagle. He's very helpful and will give you any information you need.

You can either call or email:

Thanks.

Chances are I won't get a reply in time to take it to the vet tomorrow morning, but I do have the amount of crude fat and can get any other information to him later, if he really thinks it's important.
