Marking after spay

Hi

I might be taking the mother of my Papillon boy. I have her on a trial basis for just over a week.

The breeder is retiring her and is getting her spayed. . The breeder told me she may mark territory in the house and so to just keep an eye on her.

She is a sweety and has only done this one time so far. I am very good at getting her outside.Just wondering if she will continue to do this after she is spayed .. She is six years old now.

i would expect her to continue, yes. it's a well-learned, long-engrained behavior.

personally i think marking is one of those things like house-breaking. there is no reason why the dog cannot learn that it's appropriate to do so in the house. it takes a lot of vigilence and preventative measures at first.

Like elegy said, one learnt its hard to change, saying that i had my boy neutered after 4 years and his sent marking has improved grately, he still has a lapse sometimes but is a lot better

Thanks . I do get her outside a lot and the first day she was out there in the yard peeing everywhere just little bits and did once in the house just a little bit.

It just happens so fast . It isnt like a regular pee. All of a sudden she is going and actually lifts one leg a little bit.

Oh well we want to keep her as she is so sweet and has a lovely personality.Very lovable.

Casey and her are so cute together too and are company for each other when I have to go out for a couple of hours.

My friend has a female pug who was spayed at 6 months and she lifts her leg like a boy on trees. Your new girl maybe a little more territorial due to the fact that she was a breeding bitch and had those hormones for so long. She may slow down on the marking eventually, hopefully she will stop in the house but that is up to how much you work with her. Good luck!
