now should ALL raw meats fed to your dogs be frozen or just pork? And if all meats should be frozen how long should they be frozen before they are safe for the dog to eat raw?

Pork does not need to be frozen unless if it is not fit for human consumption.

Wild game should be frozen before feeding.

And roadkill, or anything else not raised for human consumption.

Salmon from the north Pacific ocean should be frozen for a week to kill flukes.

All of these should be frozen for at least a week before feeding.

Anything not raised for human consumption should go to the freezer for a week, in my opinion. I am not sure if chickens can carry anything that would affect a dog, but in my house I freeze everything that isn't raised as meat for humans. If it's chicken from the grocery store, there is no need to freeze it. I've often come home and fed meat to my dogs straight from the store.

but a butcher should be the same thing as a grocery store right. We are going to order some raw meats from a butcher should that stuff be frozen?

For storage reasons I freeze all meats. I thaw in the fridge overnight.

Do you have to freeze chicken? No. I bought chicken on sale tonight and I placed Jed's chicken meal for tomorrow from today's purchase straight into the fridge. I am freezing the rest.

Well we would freeze everything as well but I didn't know if I could take an unfrozen piece of chicken that was fresh from the butcher and feed that to her or not.

*dang Windoze crashes*

I rinse what comes from the butcher if I am planning on giving some of it straight away to Jed. When in doubt, however, go ahead and freeze it first.

Again, if it's fit for human consumption - which meat from a butcher is - there is no reason to freeze.

When I get my cases of chicken, I'll leave 1 pack in the fridge and the rest gets frozen for later use. No issues here. Their stomach/digestive juices are STRONG- why do you think they can eat garbage and other "crap" and not get sick?
