If they are white lines and few inches long they are round worms. Many many puppies have round worms..i had a 1 week old puppy vomit a mess that looked bigger than her poor little stomach. Your vet should be able to check a stool sample and tell you what you need to do. It is an easy fix, but must be done soon. I am glad to hear that it is something like that and not a sponge or foam, or swelled up dry food.
There is good info on good puppy diet on this forum..i would switch from Purina.

hook are about a quarter inch long and have a "hook" on the end.

rounds are very bad for puppies...hooks can be fatal if bad enough..if the anemia is bad enough gums pale, puppy larthgic, tapes usually cause weight loss and extreme appetite, heart worm tabs do take care of most worms but not sure on the tapes...fun facts about worms..i read somewhere that lions could not digest their food with out the tape..and hookworms were on of the major reason for "lazyness" of the slaves in America. They caused the same anemia and get into the body between the toes of barefeet in the morning dew...my biology teacher in jr college liked to remind me that when i was a big barefoot goer..back to the topic..if it is not worms, then your puppy will be passing out something that was undigestable...i think you should take a stool sample up to your vet as long as the bloating is not causing distress...and monitor the situation. You might look around and see if he ate any fabric..dogs are great underwear stealers..tho nobody likes to admit that outloud.

Definitely needs a worm check by the vet, and take a stool sample with you. The Purina is horrible stuff; it makes me so angry the way these dog food manufacturers make dog owners believe they are actually making a good product, taking advantage of people who are trying to care for their friends.

Sorry about the confusion, Peach! The Purina probably has a lot to do with the fact that she's a little heavy, and that she's getting gas now. You might want to check the threads in the Dog Food forum, and maybe even PM Mordy.

Sorry, Renee, I don't disagree that some foods are better than others, but I've always used Purina. (All types from Puppy Chow on )....I've always added water (left over from cooking veggies if possible) veggie scraps and trimmings from raw meat or chicken. I've never had a gassy dog (unless they got into a no-no ) and all had good coats , etc. As my vet said, if it ain't broke...don't fix it.

Bronki died of cancer..bronki ate purina and had rawhides..do you know how bad i feel now? i didn't know..i should have, but i didn't even think about it..i am not much better with myself in that department..stopped eating act 2 kettle corn regular and switched to healty pop..otherwise known as healthy yuck..but dropped ten pounds almost immediantly.Trans fat...never had it before..not much of a junk food eater, but liked the popcorn because it was cheap and didn't have yucky butter on it. Just makes me sick to know i added to Bronki's cancer potential..

Once, back in the day, Purina made a pretty decent food, better than most that were available. It's not even remotely close to the quality it used to be. Back then, the cheapest ingredients to use were the ones that had the least "scientific" tinkering - from the lowest on the chain of farms that couldn't afford the expensive new chemicals, drugs and other goodies. Those were the products that were considered inferior and went into the pet food industry. The "higher quality" stuff that had all of those great additives that made it tastier and tenderer, ad nauseum commanded a higher price and went to the consumers at the top of the economic food chain. Now things are reversed, and the big, corporately produced foods are the cheapest; also the most adulterated. Not only that, but the stuff that is being used in the large manufacturers pet foods are the leavings - the diseased stuff, the contaminated, anything deemed unfit for human consumption. Charley was a die-hard Purina guy for years - he wouldn't have his dogs touch it now.

But we do the best we can by our critters. Mine eat healthier than I do now . . . but truth be told I care a lot more about something happening to them.
