Default House Training

Aw man, my GSD is great.

But he keeps pooing and peeing everywhere. I take him outside and he starts playing with the grass, he won't do his business. Yesterday and the day before he would, but now he just kind of doesn't at all. He'll go outside and start nipping at grass and leaves but he won't do his business! I come inside and turn my back for 2 seconds and I've got another mess to clean up. Any suggestions?

Default same boat

Hey Big Dog!
I just got mine on the 12th! I'm interested to see pics. Dante is hilarious. He turned 8 weeks yesterday, and isn't doing too bad at the potty training thing. Since ours are so close in age, it'll be interesting to see how they develop together. In two weeks we start puppy agility.

LOL Yeah. that's 'normal' Try taking him out, letting him play, bringing him in and then taking him right back out. Praise him lots when he goes and start teaching him a command.

Maverick only used to poop after a good walk. He'd get so excited to be outside he'd forget (I think) Goofy pup

I hope I can work this out...

I got him kind of angry and he's not really listening to me right now. I squeezed his paws gently after he did something wrong, I don't think should've done it .

Yeah. that's probably something you should avoid. Try walking away and not giving him any contact for a few minutes. No eye contact, no touching... they want to play and be with their pack so they learn that if they do that they don't get to play anymore. What did he do? Potty in the house?

Yes. RIGHT, after I had taken him outside and took my eyes off him for 2 seconds.

I just got frustrated, but I'm never going to do that again.

Keep him on a leash after you bring him in if he didn't potty. And tie it to your waist.

I think that if we do not comunicate well with our furry creatures then they start to lose respect/trust in us. That's just a theory and I think it depends on the animal. But I really believe that.

Thing about my puppy is. I haven't used a leash yet cause he goes everywhere I go, he doesn't try and run away or anything he just follows me. But he's having trouble with that command "come" since the paw-squeezing incident.

I do the least thing in the house right now. It works really well. After I know he's done a good potty, I let him off to play for about 10 minutes, then he clips back on so I can monitor his actions.
