Unhappy getting a little worried...

Hi,
I'm in the process of switching my cocker from hill's prescription (which she's been on for ages now) to Natural Balance. She used to wolf down her food and whine and go crazy for any vegetables or fruits. Ever since I started mixing her food with the NB, she's been a little reluctant to touch it (although in the end she does eat it). She's also not wanting the fruits and veggies anymore..she's just as energetic as ever though, and her poop is normal, if not a little less (which I know is normal with good quality food). Is it just that she doesn't like the NB (but how does that explain the people food)? or maybe there's a bigger issue? She's seeing the vet tomorrow anyway, so I'll get her checked out then..but do you think it's most likely nutritional?

Why was she on the prescription? For allergies?

Its possible she doesn't like it, or is a little uneasy with change. Like humans, not all dogs like the healthy food as much as the unhealthy food
It's possible that she's not feeling as much as a need to want the fruits and veggies because there's more in the NB than Hills...?
You said her energy level as about the same, so I wouldn't be too concerned just yet.
Let us know about the vet visit, I hope all goes well and she is healthy, and keep in mind that not all vets are utd on nutrition information.

BTW... Welcome to Chazhound, Do you have any pics of your Cocker?

thanks for the welcome!!
She's our family baby, but after I started working in a holistic pet store in Montreal while there for studies, I realised my dogs (also a 10 yr old golden) could definitely use better diets.
As for the Hill's prescription, apparently there's no real reason. It was simply a recommendation from the vet when she was a pup and she's been on it ever since (4 years).
I thought it also might be that she's getting sufficient nutritional value from the food...I hope that's all that it is.
But it seems to me that she's a bit under the weather today...she's usually just bouncing off everthing and she's a little subdued today...
We'll see what the vet says tomorrow.
thanks for the quick response!
p.s. my golden switched over to NB fish and sweet potato no problem and is pushing her dish all over the floor looking for scraps that might have fallen out (^^) yay!

Oh, there's likely a reason. You vet probably gets a low percentage of the profits when you buy persription food from him/her/them. I'm glad your golden is doing well on it, hopefully the cocker will soon be following suit!
Keep us updated Good luck

Okay, so went to see the vet today for their distemper shots, and said that there's nothing wrong with either of them (he was actually pleased to hear that we switched my golden to NB). Now for my dramaqueen...she's being picky, and isn't liking the NB in venison. I've done my research and know what brands I'm thinking of going to, but anyone with a recommendation about which ones are favorites with their fussy pups?

I fostered a VERY picky Shih Tzu - and the only dog food she'd eat without added tempting foods is Innova EVO...
Good Luck, and I'm glad both are doing great

Default still deciding

So, after picking up some samples today, it looks like she likes the Innova Adult and NB's organic formula. She's still picking at it a bit, but she ate all her dinner, so it looks like she'll be fine. Yay!
