I never sold a puppy before 8 weeks until I read that they go through a fear stage at 8 weeks and should be settled in their new home by then. So most of my later litters went "home" the weekend closest to their 7+ week. I remember when I bought a pup once (MANY years ago) The breeder called me when the pups were 5 weeks old and said they were ready to go !!! Boy, I learned my lesson!! This is the stage the mom is trying to wean the litter and pup food enters the picture. The mom now doesn't clean up after the pups ao the "breeder" is fed up with the mess. The pups need contact and raising from their mom, so this is a no-no! Think of the number of puppies who are discarded at this age and you know why there are so many dogs in shelters. ALWAYS go to a dedicated breeder !!!
