Talking Soon to be First time Puppy Owner

Hello!

My friends poodle is about to have wapoo babies! 3 weeks till they are born! I get pick of the litter, and I can't wait! I'm trying to get things together for when I can actually take him/her home (I know this is some time after they are born, after they are eliminating and eating on their own). I'd like to see what you think the essentials are for a new puppy. What should I buy, and what is just not needed? I am just soo excited, I could go and buy the whole store out, but that probably wouldn't be so great on the pocketbook lol.

Thanks!

Cyndall

What exactly is a wapoo? They should be at least 8 weeks old before brought to their new home, with all shots up to date and recent worming.

You'll need to get:

leash
collar
bed
crate
toys
food
dishes
Nature's Miracle
treats
brush
nail clippers

Ah. I've usually heard them referred to a chiapoos. Good luck in your housebreaking, chihuahua's are notorious for being difficult.

I just read a very long stress filled thread about mixed breed dogs. I just felt compelled to share that my friend whos dog is having puppies is not a back yard breeder. Her dog just got out of the yard and had a romping good time. She also plans on getting her spayed when it is possible to do so. Having never really having had a purebred dog, I didnt know there was this fued between purebreed vs. mutt or what your calling designer dogs (first time hearing that term). I was looking up cross breed pictures to see what the puppies might look like when I even found the terms chipoo and wapoo.

So anways.. I was feeling like I hadn't necessarily gotten a warm welcome, especially when I was feeling so excited about getting a dog (its my first dog in a long time, and my husband and I's first dog together) but now I understand why. Just wanted to share my understanding with you.

I am glad you understand .
The shelter I volounteer at gets so many 'designer' breeds that aren't 'cool' enough for the owners .
It is nice to have a member who is open to learning that designer breeds are not a good thing!
*Hugs*
I am sure your puppy will be cute though! Be sure to post pictures .
Oh, and just to be safe... When out in public and people ask you what kind of dog you have, it's better to say Chihuahua poodle mix or just a mix. That way, the village idiots wont go looking for a 'wapoo'... LOL!
I do the same for my doggie too .
