Default breaking into the neighbors yard!

PRINCESS is being a BRAT! Our neighbor (who is very unfriendly) has 3 small dogs, 2 are pomerainans. One of them has become best buddies with Princess. They meet at the wooden fence to visit and want so badly to just play together. Princess has figured out she has the strength to pull boards down. This allows her access into the neighbors yard. Both my husband and the neighbor has at different times fixed the fence, never meeting up with each other. Just trying to keep the peace, until tonight.

Today I had a babyshower to go to, my husband was leaving for KY, so we had to put Princess in the back yard. When I got home tonight I called Princess and watched her dart into their yard, the neighbor man out there yelling at her, his dog happy to see Princess. The 2 dogs happily went running and chasing each other, both refusing to listen to me or the neighbor man. Finally Princess proudly came to share her excitement with me. The neighbor came to talk to me, very angry about it. He said this is the 4th time HE has gotten into the yard to play with their female. I apolgized and then said SHE JUST WANTS TO PLAY WITH YOUR DOG. Then he realized it wasnt a male. I apologized again to him, and told him I try not to let her out there much and my husband has been fixing spots too and all we can come up with to do is in the spring we will get different fencing because his is old and brittle now which makes it easy for her to pull down. I told him the girls like each other, all they want to do is play and its a shame they cant be allowed to play at times. He stopped being mad, said he agreed but with Princess being so much bigger he doesnt like that idea. He said he knows Princess is very friendly and there hasnt been any problems yet but dogs do at times get into fights. He said he was buying new boards that would be harder for her to pull off but would need access into our yard. I told him thats fine. So now I will have to walk her on a leash for awhile or be in the yard with her to make sure she doesnt get in their yard again. Think I need to find her a play mate. Maybe that would help. Just wish the neighbor would be willing to let them play, thats all these girls want. Now poor Princess is in here whining because she wasnt ready to stop playing next door.

Poor Princess! But at least she did manage to get you and your neighbor speaking on civil terms, which is great. Maybe, if you go out and offer to help him when he's working on the fence, or take him some cold lemonade, you can foster better relations and Princess and his dog might be able to play under supervision. Who knows, you might end up spending a some interesting and companionable hours somewhere down the line.

Does anyone even know what started the bad blood in the first place?

They moved next door 8 years ago, just never had any use for people. Built this fence before ever moving in. She works at a station and people complain that she is mean and hateful so they stopped going there. I've never heard anyone say good things about them. All people in town say is they are very unfriendly. They came from out of state and just have no desire to be friendly. We've tried. My husband is always trying to strike up a conversation with them, they just dont want no part of it. I have been here 20 years and we get along great with all our neighbors but that one. They just want left alone. To be honest with you, if he fixes that fence this weekend I wont be out there. He scares me. Now my husband would be right out there with the drill helping him. And will be if he does it when he is back from Ky.

several years back we had a neighbor on the other side who would do that. He only lived there 2 or 3 years then sold his house to move back to the city. Our daughters dog would bark at neighbor cats. This neighbor would get mad and spray them with water. Eventally it got so the dogs didnt like him at all and would bark alot, anytime they seen him outside they had fits. He'd complain to us she barks, do something with that dog. Then he admitted he sprays her with water and throws things at her. Well it was no wonder they barked and didnt like him! He sold his home and the barking stopped except for when the occassional cat came by or critter showed up (like a racoon, possum, turtle) or a deer ran acrossed the field behind us. This other neighbor who is so unfriendly I tell my husband they are definatly dog people. Love their dogs dearly, they are their babies, they just dont like people. They dont know how to relate to people.
