To me, it depends on the breed and whether of not they're fixed. I've had a mixture between my own and visitors or boarders of up to seven goldens with no problems. I knew a lady with 4 dobes. The females could never be together, the males never to be together . Once she forgot whom got along with whom and she was severly bitten. He house had more gates than fleas !

It's going to depend greatly on the personalities of the dogs.

I think it depends whether they are fixed or not. AND the personalities of the dogs.

I agree with Renee. It depends a lot on personality, but it's also important for you, the boss, to have a really firm grasp of the way dog society works. If you know how to behave toward them and teach them to behave properly together, the dogs' gender doesn't matter.

I think two girls and one boy is a natural pack like structure and easier for the dogs to understand. Especially if the male is intact, but even so.
when we put several dogs in one kennel, there were three that were good sized, almost half the size of my house, one even had a treadmill like wheel (flat surface, not like a hamster wheel) it would always be two females and one male. less fights occured that way. |

There is a poll option.
It took me awhile to figure it out too. http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2087 As for my thoughts. I agree that it all has to do with personalities. If they are altered or not is a factor in most cases too but I think even personalities affect that as well. |

My bf has 2 females and 1 male. Both females fight for dominance. The male only plays with 1 female and hates the other female.
