If that's the case, then the dog should be euthanized immediately, after the dog is done be quarantined.

Any dog that attacks unprovoked, should be euthanized. End of. The dog is dangerous.A stable dog would never attack unprovoked.

Thank god for the amazing cat. The situation would of turned out much worse, if it wasn't for that cat.

ETA: There's something psychologically wrong with the dog. I'm actually interested in why the dog attacked unprovoked.

A dog that goes after a small child like that? I don't care if it's prey, territorial, the kid stepped on it, whatever, any dog with a reaction like that to a child has a severe temperament flaw. One in which I have zero tolerance for.
Absolutely agree. That dog is messed up.

Sekah, I did miss your post. In her panic, she must have felt that was a priority. I think it was a mistake...she should have gotten that child inside first. A vicious dog like that is not one to mess with. I think a gun or else call the authorities...something. It's a shame she got bitten too. But that little boy...he has some bad looking wounds. I hope he isn't afraid of dogs forever.

That dog keys in on the kid from so far away…that must have been absolutely terrifying (especially since Momma was standing right there!). The cat is a badass!

It sure is! Love your apt description!

That dog was owned?! It has no collar on and no one with it - I sure hope that quarantine is at a facility not in home and yes, a dog biting like that is not safe and I'm surprised it wasn't seized.

Some dogs simply are dangerous and will attack without provocation. Pretty messed up. The cat was awesome though <3

The only thing I have to add is that one of the comments on YouTube asks if the cat's name is Chuck Norris... I couldn't stop laughing, it's a perfect name for the cat!

In many jurisdictions it is illegal to euthanize a dog within 10 days of a bite and quarantine is mandatory for that 10 day period. It doesn't mean the dog won't be euthanized or that it's even in its own home.

The dog isn't safe and it should be euthanized, but man I've seen some nasty hateful comments floating around (not here) about what kinds of tortures should be inflicted on it that make me a little sad. I mean, holy scary prey driven unsafe dog, but it's not the devil.

And really, the armchair quarterbacking the mom's reaction makes me a little sad, too. I mean, can we please not lose sight of the fact that the real point here is that the cat is a complete and total badass?!
