Default Please help - Average weight for pit bull puppy?

What is the average weight of a pit bull puppy at the ages of 4, 5, and 7 months? I adopted what appears to be a pit bull or pit bull mix puppy. I'm not sure of his age, but he still has his puppy teeth. He currently weighs 23 lbs.

didn't you already have one thread posted with the same question???

as i said before...avg weight for a full bred american pit bull is 45-90lbs (full grown) per CKC.org breed standards. it varies if your dog is mixed with a larger or smaller breed as to what he should weight now. you need to bring him to a vet and get them to tell you his age and what he should weigh.
my Lab, at 6/7 months weighed approx 55-60 lbs. she's almost 2 now and weighs 70 lbs. (max weight for female according to AKC regs).

again, do you have a pic you could post of him?

Pitts come in different sizes because of all the backyard breeders but if he still has his puppy teeth he's under 4 months old.

Depends on what she is mixed with, maybe 50 to 75lbs at the most. I had a pitbull/lab mix who weighed 90 lbs so it is tough to say. However, most of these rescues seem to say they are pitbull crosses and look like full pitbulls to me. Everytime I go on petfinder.com they show pit mixes and I have worked with dogs for 14 years so I can tell the difference

red acd...i think the rescues may sometimes be covering all the bases...just in case. since they don't always know if a dog is purebred they say it's a "so & so breed mix" so you don't change your mind if that's the breed you want. if you know it could be mix, then you also know looks/weight/size could be different even though it's predominantly the breed you want.

it makes sense to me...i don't know if i'm getting my idea down here very well though

the CONkc is a horrible reference. they're a sham registry. the ukc is a much more appropriate reference.

a purebred pit bull should not weigh more than about 65 pounds. certainly NOT 90.
