Default Snow and your dogs

Does anyone else's dog refuse to settle when it's snowing outside? Mia is driving me a bit nutty. It's in the teens or lower wind-chill wise and been snowing hard all morning. Mia is on crack. I knew we'd be stuck indoors today so I exercised her like crazy yesterday but she will not settle down. We've done a few sprints down the road since no one is driving but I can't let her out there very long or her poor paws will freeze.

The only way to get her settling down is to put her jacket on but then she's just pouting because she hates wearing it. lol

Summer on the other hand is snuggled in and I have to shove her outside.

Nope, they're all pretty good about it although none of them worry about cold weather unless it's -5 or colder. Mick and Murph have heavy coats, in fact, Murph would rather sleep outside on the porch when it's in the 20s or lower than be indoors.

Riley's been wearing coats since he was a puppy, so it doesn't bother him to wear his heavy coat (or even be double-coated). Riley is a pain if he doesn't run every day, so we go out to play, no matter what the weather.

Jackson is surprisingly great on snow days. He LOVES to go out and play in the snow, and do a few fun romps and then he's content to come inside and lay by the fire. It's like he understands that it's too cold to stay out long anyway, and there's nothing else to do, so might as well lay down lol

Considering the breeds that I own, they're all fantastic in the house. Cobain might bug a little bit if he thinks it's time for a walk, but the rest of them amuse themselves in the house just fine. They're all sleeping right now.

Since Rigby doesn't tolerate the cold well, she will happily play by herself when the weather gets bad. Tossing toys across the room and retrieving them. Occasionally bringing a toy to another dog for tug. She loves to have someone throw the toy for her, but she wont bug for it.

Oz will happily disappear for an hour when it's -30 and snowing.
Out of the 4 of my dogs, the oldest, smallest, lowest to the ground, shortest coated dog, is the one that doesn't seem too bothered by the cold.
- Unless he's outside and you look at him, then he shivers. But he does this in the summer too lol

Watson hardly notices snow when he's outside, so he definitely doesn't notice if it's snowing while he's inside. If he's outside long enough he might get ice balls in his feet which he doesn't like, but otherwise he runs around like nothing is different. The only difference is that he wants to run more, vs trot, so maybe he likes it? Most dogs seem to love or hate snow, and he's the only one I know IRL who seems indifferent.

We ended up doing a snow hike for about an hour and a half yesterday since it warmed up to the 30s. Mia was thrilled. I ran some errands on the way home and by the time we got home, Mia wanted out to play in the snow again.

She just loves it.

That's way beyond Feist, I don't think she's even looked out a window before. And Wesley is the king of off switch. They are both nuts about snow though.
