My dream house is two stories with a basement. Aside from that, I haven't really thought about the looks of the inside or outside of the house. I'd like a dog room and a cat room though. Those rooms, I have thought about a lot.

Location would be in the country with a couple wooded acres and a couple clear acres for a barn and animals, horses, goats, poultry. Also a midsized pond with a dock suitable for jumping off.

I do not live in my dream home. I'm currently in the complete opposite of my dream home.

The house Kootenay posted is my dream house for my parents to move to....or all of our family to split as a vacation home. I could never live anywhere that rural, but I would kill to spend a few weeks there in the summer and spend Christmas there <3

I'm so torn. I really love the idea of having an acreage, lots of space for dogs, to grow our own food, hubby to have a decent brew system, maybe a tiny farm with miniature sheep, pygmy fainting goats, miniature cattle... But then on the other hand I really enjoy living in the city center, being able to walk or bicycle to whatever I need, the only caveat being there must be nearby green space for the dog(s). On our honeymoon, we discovered this tiny beach on the coast of CA north of Malibu, and absolutely fell in love with it. But I also love woods, moutains, and the plains, so.... Ultimately, it will depend on where we end up moving, and if we stay in Alberta or move to BC, CA, CO, OR, MA, NY.... or even Europe.

Really when it comes to the house itself, given enough money we could put what we want into pretty much any house - I really just want lots of purpose-built storage, lots of windows, and a farmhouse sink. We put one in when we renoed our kitchen this summer, and I LOVE it and I don't ever want to give it up.

Other things that I would absolutely love include a built-in dog nook, a rain shower, an island in the kitchen with a stone counter top (for rolling out dough - I actually prefer wood counter tops), a beer/wine cellar, and a wrap-around porch.

Depends -

At this time in my life, I would like a
2-3 bedroom
an office or craft room
2 bath
an open floor plan on the main level
a semi-finished basement.
2 car garage
All of this on .5-1 acre that backs up to a state forest.
Small, manageable, if we leave for a long weekend to visit family we don't return to a jungle.

My "dream big" house -
3-4 bedrooms
An office for the husband
A craft room for me
Large mud room/utility room when walking in the door. Complete with large sink, or floor level sink to rinse off muddy dogs.
2.5 car garage
Small Library with comfy chairs
The husband wants a "smoking room" that he can have leather chairs and smoke cigars in
Finished basement with a bar & lots of wine storage
Loads of big windows
Wrap around porch

3 or 4 stalls,
enough storage to store a years worth of hay
Covered outdoor arena
1 acre per horse, plus another acre (eg. 3 horses = 4 acres; 5 horses = 6 acres)
Heated tack room
Dirt floors throughout, cement floor in tack room

enough room/land to do:
agility events
barn hunts
dock diving pool!
large garden
some critters (goats, chickens, bees, horses, small cows)

I would like 50+ acres, mostly fields but wouldn't mind a bit of bush with some water (preferably a creek or stream with good footing!). High, dry lands with a good hayfield and pasture.

4-6 stall barn with attached indoor arena (80x140 or bigger!), fenced sand ring and solid wood round pen. Some kind of set up for a handful of sheep. And a gorgeous chicken coop!

Ranch style bungalow with a wrap around porch is my dream! 3 bedroom, 2 bath sounds perfect. Finished basement. I would love a little mud room or sun room.

In actuality I'd be perfectly happy with great land, a decent house, and boarding my horses out LOL.
