Default I can't stop

Thinking of New Mexico.

I swear I've moved back and forth from NM to VA a few times. I grew up in NM and have friends there and some family. When I was 18 I moved to VA and then moved back to NM at 23. Josh moved from VA to NM to be with me... We got married and then ended up back in VA. We moved back to VA to be closer to family thinking it would be nice to have our kids raised near their grandparents. A few years later we still are without kids and I'm depressed living in this area because it's too busy of a lifestyle for me.

We have contemplated other areas and states, but my heart is always in NM and I bring NM up a lot in conversation with people.

I already posted this in the good news thread, but since I can't get it off my mind I decided to start a new thread. We have decided after much talking that we want to move back to NM because that's where we feel we belong.

I have been wanting to move back for a long while, but didn't think he would go for it. He mentioned the other day that he appreciated being less stressed out living in NM and that he knows I am missing it out there. He wants us both to be happy so after much discussion we pretty much made it an official goal.

Now the question is when. We are thinking we want to try to shoot for sometime this upcoming summer. We have a lot of planning and saving to do in the meantime and unfortunately it means that some of the things I wanted to do this year I won't be able to, but if it means I get to go back home then it is worth it.

Tonight we are going to sit down and really look at our finances and create a budget. We are selling some stuff we don't need or want to keep, etc.

We will have to figure some stuff out. We will be driving out there and we do have three dogs, a cat and a snake. I might ship the snake to my aunt in NM instead of attempting to road trip with her, but I have to research more into what is the least stressful for her, etc.

Once we have a more concrete plan and a route we would love to see some chazzers along the way.

I know you definitely won't end up my way, but I wanted to tell you that I'm very jealous. We've done a few road trips to NM and love the state. What area are you looking to move to?

Good luck!

Thank you. I went to high school in Rio Rancho and we are probably going to look in that general area. I've lived in Rio Rancho, Albuquerque and Corrales.

Ship the snake before the temps get nuts. It's much less stressful for her (?) and the other animals, imo.

Poor Rick grew up in WA, spent a month in CT with me, back to WA for six weeks to ship his stuff out and say goodbye to people, back to CT for a year, back to WA for what will be about six months total, and then we will be back to CT to stay. It's home... for both of us.

Good luck in your ventures and have a safe move!

Ya I'm definitely leaning more towards shipping her. I'm probably going to start a thread on my boa forum at some point and see how others have done long distance moves with snakes and whether they shipped ahead of time or not.
