Default How much do you spend on food?

How much do you usually spend per week on food, and how many people does it feed? If you go out to eat, how often?

way too much! I pick food up every night to cook that night, I hate thawing meat out so I just buy it every night. We eat out less now then when I worked 2 jobs, but we probably eat 3-4 lunches a week out, and 1-2 dinners out, not always together, sometimes we go with other people. But I would say I spend probably $20-$30 a night to get the stuff to make supper, so by the math we spend $250 + a week on groceries for 3 people, keep in mind one is a teenage boy! Also keep in mind that we live north of the middle of nowhere, closest other town is 2.5 hours, and its just a bunch of gas stations, closes city is 5 hours.

I try to stick to $30-40 a week, to feed myself.

Sometimes it's a bit more, sometimes it's a lot less, some weeks I don't have to buy anything. It all depends. I cook from scratch, so a lot of it is stuff that lasts a while. It sucks when I run out of everything at the same time.

I spend about $125 a week for 3-5 people, depends if the kids eat dinner here or not. I hardly ever eat out anymore, maybe twice a month.

Too much. Lol. Wayyy to much.

We normally go grocery shopping every 2.5 weeks and spend $200-250 (this isn't just food, sometimes it includes other household items).

We go out 1-2 times a week on average, I'd say.

In the fall and winter we spend A LOT less because deer and waterfowl seasons open up. Waterfowl normally gets cooked right away. If we get enough deer, we can freeze that and use it throughout the year.

Hopefully next year we will be raising our own chickens, which will cut prices drastically.

Not sure exactly.

I spend about $100-$150 every week or every two weeks in groceries but a lot of that is stock up stuff. We don't eat ALL of that in one week. I like to have a stock pile of meats in the freezer and I have 6 or more boxes of cereal on hand at any given time as well as granola bars and other things like that, stock pile of canned goods and bottled and jarred things like peanut butter, jelly, beans, tomato sauce, etc etc. That's for 3 of us.

We usually eat out at least once a week... usually lunch after church

Oh yeah my grocery trips don't just include food. That's toiletries, paper products, feminine products, etc as well

About $20 a week. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, I love the weeks when I can manage to not go grocery shopping at all (by the end of the week it's pretty rough though and I have basically like, a potato to eat...) - it works out to about $20/week.
That is for just me.

Beanie post your menu!

I spend way too much. Not sure how to cut it down.

Do it!

I've been dipping into my savings so we can buy more food week to week. It's been $100/week for the two of us, and it feels really high to me. Rick has been getting a lot of candy and stuff lately, so it'll definitely be less when I start limiting that, lol.
