I would use the German (bleib), but that's because I took German in high school, and so it makes sense to me. (not that I actually speak the language, just remember a few words).

Some good ideas! I should probably work on it built into sit/down/etc. I like halt and hold and freeze.

Bleib reminds me of Justin Beiber. Lol

I use "freeze" lol it's easy for me to remember..

We use "hold" with the water buffalo Or since they're French dogs, you can use "rester" although that may sound too much like "stay" to work well.

Yup, I do use "rest" however as a secondary "you're in it for the long haul, settle in" because really it just makes me feel better about the security of the position. It is however secondary and not needed.
