Zoomer asked me if I could get Columbus use to a bath. IF we have to do that again before we leave, and considering what an absolute slobette the white one Hyia calls Onya is, most likely we will, I will try to get her. SHe LOVED it. SHe is such a wonderful girl. She melts like butter in your hand with a huge roaring purr as soon as you touch her. She thought the bath was delightful, just one more big warm experience. The one in the video was the only one that struggled and seemed a little upset. Not bad tho, considering. THat kitten acts like a little barn cat, tho she has been treated with the same care as the others. SHe is afraid of more things, startles easier, growls louder and plays rougher than the others, and stalks like a wild cat when she plays. Water temp is a big part of it, not too hot, certainly not too cold, no water pouring when you bring them in, make sure they can touch bottom, blah blah blah. I give a good bath. EVen when I worked as a CNA I was told I gave a good bath. I always put the bath towels on the register to warm, and wrapped the people I cared for in them as soon as they started coming up out of the water in the electric lift. One over the shoulders, one over the lap, and one around the body. Privacy, and comfort go a long ways in making it a good experience instead of an embarrassing one. I don't hold too tight either. I didnt' mean to splash the water up on her ears, she wiggled at the wrong tme. I always make a soap ring around the neck to stop anything from crawling up..then outside I use a wash cloth and my reader glasses to inspect heads and ears, and wash faces so no soap gets in eyes. They rewarded me for my hard effort by diving into the fireplace and getting ashes on their fresh fluffy fur. SO today, its get the last of the ashes out of the fireplace. I guess I named my little donation cat to ARt Unleashed Cinders appropriately. I had 5 of my own cinders to clean up AGAIN.
Hyia is doing a stellar job of keeping all pot boxes good and clean and they are being good little kittens by doing it where they are suppose to. WE do still take them after they eat, and when they wake, and after they have played awhile as a reminder, but it is becoming less and less necessary. I see them making a bee line one after another to go, and that makes me happy.

It was beyond hot outside yesterday, so the concrete was warm, even the breeze was warm, it was the best place to dry them. Other then that they do not see the outdoors except out the window.

I hate that you all can see how dirty my floors are...just let me say in my defense, my hands are full of babies and my vacuum is a big piece of super crap. When babies of he human variety clear out, and Hyia get settled in to school, and the dust of this summer begins to settle I will get caught up. In the mean time, I think, this is still worth sharing. Hope you agree. Geez it is really hard to be depressed with so much funny happening all around you.
Thing I learned today, MR. ClEAN follows me everywhere I go. Turn around, and he is standing there looking at you. He has a nice smile.

Onya melts in your hands like chocolate on a hot day, she is s smush of love with a great big purr. I sure hope soemone really nice adopts her. Hyia is really really fond of her. I told her advocate..talk about her, show people her pics, it can't hurt.

and the little feral child, is the funniest one of all ...I love the arch hop hop hop play. No one else does it quite the same way. I could make a cartoon out of her. SHe did that in one of the vids above. WIth the box.

I am going to wear my little ol camera out between the people and the critter babies.

This is how Victor handles it when the sun goes down. IT is asking too much of him to be able to handle with his oversensitivity 5 kittens hopping about, around and over him. Ressie doesn't' bother him. Somehow she managed to read his distress. She leaves him be and I am glad. THis is where she sleeps while I work, and at the foot of the sofa when I sleep. Usually by Pepper.

Loving the one of Victor all snuggly with his blanket and pillow.
FYI: I didn't mop my kitchen floor all summer ( my mama was appalled! ) But why waste my time? 2 constantly underfoot, quite frequently muddy/wet little girls. When they start back to school is when I resume cleaning. So no judgment here!

Victor is not snuggly, he is upset. THis is his upset, he wants to be covered up and cries if he isn't, he tries to walk like he isn't sure the ground is where his paws are going to touch, and if ground is going to be there. So this is how he has decided to handle it. And will cry until he is covered up, until his eyes are closed until dawn.
Today's kitten feature is nap time. With warm bellies all nice and full. Finaly finally got a nice smiling pic of MR. Clean.

He says I waz homely but I am not now. Now I am a super clean pretty kitten. I no longer look like I was pulled out of a dusty hole in the ground with little dry sparse wild thing fur.

I haz personality too. YOu'll see, I grow on you.

LIttle wild child is just a show off.

Ressie does not sleep with them. Ever. She does however seem to like Sancho close or Pepper, or me, but not them. She also plays kind of mean and was in a real kick my siblings behinds today. I pull her off of one, and she would hop right onto another and not very nicely either. So my friend Cindy and I threw out the "soccer balls: and such, but she wasn't about to stop, so we put the others back in to the sleep room and she settled right down to her gentle play. Me thinks she holds a grudge. Now that she has caught up, they played mean with her when she was smaller and she would cry out unable to free herself. Tables have turned. Will be interesting to see if things simmer down in the next week. She has gained well, I have fed her separately so she could not be pushed out, and let her eat to her full, and then put the food down for the others with her, in case she could squeeze in a few more bites. She no longer feels like feathers but like a substantial baby as she should.

NEver did figure out where Columbus was taking his afternoon siesta. He showed up for supper tho.

WE did our first night walk last night and it went pretty good for VIctor. NOt too far, I sang or hummed or jangled my keys, but made some kind of quiet sound. He stopped that strange leg lifting search for the ground after a while. So it;s some progress.

THe other white one is the strongest biggest one of the litter. She is the melt cat. Touch her and she becomes a mush. SHe LIKED the bath, she purred and played. SHe is a wonderful girl and whoever gets her will be very lucky. Ressie had that mark on her head too, but much fainter, and getting fainter all the time. Her eyes are changing, they are not green, or gold, or blue, they look grey. Cindy and I held her in the light and couldn't put a name on it. Her marking are fading too. So I have no idea what she will look like. I still don't understand how their markings can change like that that fast.

Ressie had a close call last night, she got a cord wrapped around her neck and was in a panic. SHe kept flipping around making it worse while I was getting it off of her. I am glad cats have 9 lives but Ressie dear, lets not use them up that fast, your going to give me a heart attack. I was the head injury, stitched up, played too hard kid to, I know how my MOther feels now.

Glad for you that Victor's making progress. Ressie and the melt Kitty have the most unusual markings. Ressie has really turned her little life around with some great help from you. I hope their new families appreciate all your hard work.
Our Kitty rescue that I've been talking with is supposed to get back with me when she has a pair of 8 week olds. She offered us a 3 month old male. But I told her with Gracie never being around cats, I thought the younger the better.
She seems to know when something is very old or very young she is to be gentle. Angel ( my mom's gsd) and Gracie would always play ruff, Gracie would never let Angel get the ball. But when Angel got elderly Gracie quit roughhousing with her and would take turns letting her get the ball. Now she's VERY patient with my mom's shelter puppy Rascal.
Have you done some sketches of the kittens like you wanted?
