Husband's thoughts on the subject are similar, haha. On Sunday he walked into the kitchen and said, "Are we really thinking about not keeping one of Mira's puppies? Really? I mean she's...she's Mira. She's perfect. Even I think so and she barely knows I exist."

When even hubby is gunning for Dog#4 so long and it's a Mirapuppy...

Travel-sized Flatcoats need to be a thing. Though after watching a Boykin try to haul a full size drake around the other week, it's pretty clear how a 50+ lb dog has its advantages.

Keep a Mira pup ..she's fabulous so her kiddos will be as well

I just had the most fabulous training session with Penn in agility in weeks ..she didn't lose focus once, she tugged, she returned the toy for a food reward. IS IT TRUE?! DOES MY DOG JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE GROWUP TIME TO BE AN AGILITY DOG?! I don't know but I do know I need to focus more on the good days and less on the bad ones! It's such a roller coaster ride from hell ..why can't I have a super focused Pennydog?!

I hope so!

Your descriptions of Penn remind me so much of Kim. Moments of brilliance followed by wondering why the heck we are here. Fast and focused and awesome then suddenly zoomies or checking out (or both). Job oriented then suddenly OH SHINY! Haha. It's enough to make a person crazy. Webby was tough to connect with and build working drive, but he was consistent. Kim is a wild rollercoaster and right about the time we really started working together and picking up QQs, she decided to take a flying leap over the Flatcoat in the yard and twinged her back so was sidelined for a couple months...which turned into just over a year because Webby stole her spot on the competition roster while she was out so now we are back to rollercoaster dog.

In my experience with her and with helping people with dogs like her -- on bad days just walk away from training. Don't push through, don't try to end on a good note, just stop. Put her up, relax, if possible work another dog (in front of her is a bonus) once you are back in the proper frame of mind. Then if you are calm and happy again, get her out and do something very short and easy for both of you, reward, and be done. If you can't fet rid of the frustration then just end it altogether. Go for a walk later or do tricks or something but save your best rewards for agility. On good days, embrace it: run with joy and confidence. THIS is your dog. On bad days just stop. You want to rehearse attitude and confidence and working together as much as obstacle performance with these dogs. Agility equipment = Full on engagement and teamwork. If you can't offer that, put her up, even just for a minute while you adjust equipment. If she won't offer that, put her up. No chance to rehearse anything but awesomeness and focused joy while you are in The Happy Working Zone.

Course this is just free internet advice from someone who's never met your dog so take it as you will

I was noticed Teagan looked like she gained some weight and I weighed her and she has gained a pound since the fall started. I guess I have to start cutting down her food. She has gotten lots of meat scraps since hunting season started so that is probably the culprit and she is not as active in the fall/winter as she is in the summer.

Cool

I had the opposite happen. Ran my hands over Feist and was like woah girl you need to gain a bit. She's so fluffy it's hard to tell! Increased food this morning. Also she has decided dog beds are the best to pee on, so she's back to only having a crate mat in my room. Silly puppy.

Puppies are so weird.

I have decided I only like my puppies. Tyler says its because I am a dog snob, he is probably right. But DAMIT! normal pet people don't hold their dogs to my standards. My dogs are not perfect, but they know the rules.

What are these 'rules' that you speak of.

When I got home for lunch and let the dogs out, Payton ran around in circles then tackled me with joy, effectively crotch-punching me with both of his front paws.

And I was like HAHA YAY PUPPY!

I think the rules here are "don't crotch-punch anybody except me."
