Default Twitching. Twitching so hard

Warning: this is ranty and whiney.

As most of you know, I have switched jobs and am now working in a doggy daycare/boarding kennel located in a vets office. Better hours, more money, yay!

Today I get a call to come up to the clinic. Ok, a little odd. I go up and find the techs holding what looks like a black border collie mixed puppy. Or is it? I look closer and.....could it be?.....it s a long haired whippet puppy! He's 12 weeks old and gorgeous.

Btw- one tech lost $20 because they didn think such a thing existed. :lol-sign

That isn't the sad part, even though it did make me jealous. The sad part is that puppys owner is well known for getting more exotic breeds and dumping them once the new wears off. According to the head tech, shes seen at least 6 dogs go through in the past 3 years. The owner is already complaining about this one, because who knew that puppies can be so high energy and demanding.

It just grinds my gears that this woman has exactly what I want, and he'll probably be sitting at animal control within a month or two. Hopefully the little guy has a breeder that will take him back, and he won't be too traumatized

You should have shown interest and told the woman how much you love/want a whippet and are waiting to find one in rescue. Maybe she would have called you before dumping at the shelter?

Nothing else I can really add, we all dislike people who treat dogs as accessories. I feel bad for the pup. Hopefully he will find his way into the arms of someone who truly wants him.

Ack, that is frustrating Poor little guy...hopefully he proves to be the exception to the rule, though from the sound of things that doesn't seem very likely.

I've been sitting here wracking my brain trying to figure out what breeder/litter he's from...none of the breeders I know have puppies matching that age, so I have to assume that he's imported from somewhere or is from one of the couple shady "breeders" that have sprung up over the last year or so. If you happen to know where he's from, could you PM me?

Hopefully it all works out for him - it's so disappointing to see someone to see someone that treats dogs as disposable accessories.

I didn't actually talk to the owner, but the techs did say they would keep some feelers out if she acts like shewants to give him up.

Speedydogs- I don't know where he came from, but I can't imagine any good breeder giving someone with her track record a puppy.

From the gossip I've heard, this woman had a heart dog for many years and finally lost her. We think she's trying to recreate this dog, but getting frustrated when the dogs have their own personalities and quirks. And , you know, act like puppies. Its frustrating, but its sad as well
