He was REALLY nice and after I told him the story starting from the mobo + HD death in March, he said "I don't even want to mess around with trying to fix it for you. I want to just junk it out and get you store credit for a new computer."

I could have kissed him, honestly. Super easy, they gave me a gift card for the full amount and I went off into the store to find a new computer.

Found a new one. Eyed a slightly more expensive model but decided to just buy the one that was the same as my old one. I asked the kid checking me out if I could put additional hard drives in this computer, because I had bought one before that didn't have expansion bays. He had to go ask but came back and said "100% yes."
Got home, opened it and immediately opened the CPU to check for expansion bays... apparently I wasn't specific enough... I want to add 3.5" drives, not 2.5"...
By then it was 8:40 and too late to really go back and get the other machine. So I hope when I get there tomorrow morning it will still be there because they only had one on the shelf, and the college kids just moved into their dorms Thursday so they're all going to be raiding Best Buy and Target and everywhere else this weekend spending their parent's money. Hopefully I can get there and get my machine and go home and just be done.
I have to fork over another $250 but honestly I really kind of wanted the other one... and I told the guy helping me pick one out "Just give me this one before I talk myself into spending more money." I should have just bought it. *sigh*
Wait, is this a laptop or a desktop? I was not aware of any Desktops that took only 2.5. I guess there are a few, but that is surprising.

OH! Haha. Not Mina (unless that's short for something else). And I don't remember the owner's name at all, unfortunately.

I'm watching this silly small time movie called the TiMER... I'm pretty sure I've watched it before. I have insomnia. It's okay I guess.

My point was, one of the actresses looks scary a lot like Zoom! Well, at least I think so..

Desktop of course - if it were a laptop I wouldn't have been surprised about 2.5".

I have no love for NY. I mean, I like it just fine, but I don't love it. It isn't home. The only thing that is keeping us here are our jobs, and currently that outlook is sketchy at best. So do we abandon ship before things go from "meh" to "Holy !@$#"? If we do decide to leave, do we want to start another adventure or move back to Ohio?

I think Ben is widening his job search location and we will see what happens.

Is it normal to be absolutely petrified for university, yet excited at the same time?

University of Toronto is my top choice university at the moment, and coming from a very small town, it'd be an enormous adjustment. I'm just so nervous about the whole idea of university, but I just try to remind myself that if I want something, I need to go for it, no matter how scary it may seem. Both of my parents were hoping I'd go to UNB for my bachelor's degree but seeing as how U of T's psychology program is one of the best in the country, I feel as though that is where I need to go. My aunt lives only nine kilometres away from the university so at the very least, I'll be able to visit and relax.

My parents are really supportive of my choice, but are still encouraging me to apply to other universities. All I can say is that this school year will probably completely revolve around studying, working and volunteering. I'm hoping that I can get my tuition and most of my residence paid for by earning scholarships and grants.

I will be sad to see my Border Collie go. PLUS he's entering two Ontario trials while he's up there ..hoping he Qs out of Starters Jumpers and Starters Standard.

29 more days.

Any tips on passing the time? I thought it would just go faster being halfway through, but it is taking FOREVER.

I love eating out of the garden. Pretty much every meal, we have something straight from the garden, or eggs from our chickens, etc. So nice.

Louis CK on hitting your kids
“I really think it’s crazy that we hit our kids. Here’s the crazy part about it; kids are the only people in the world that you’re allowed to hit. Do you realize that? They’re the most vulnerable and the most desroyed by being hit but it’s totally OK to hit them. And they’re the only ones! if you hit a dog they will put you in jail for that s**t. You can’t hit a person unless you can prove that they were trying to kill you. But a little tiny person with a head this big who trusts you implicitly:
‘F**K ‘EM, WHO GIVES A SH**! LET’S ALL HIT THEM!’
People want you to hit your kid. If your kid is making noise:
‘HIT HIM!!!! HIT ‘EM!!!! GRRRRRR’
That’s what people say -
“You dam right I hit my kids!”.
Why do you hit them?
“-cause they were doing a thing I didn’t like at the moment and so I hit them and guess what? They didn’t do it after that”.
Never again? That solved the whole problem?
Well....
Well that wouldn’t be taking the f**king easy way out would it? How about talking to them for a second you f**king retard? What are you an idiot? What are you a f**king ape?
“Well I know but it’s a pain in the ass-“
Well you f**ked a woman and a baby came out of her vagina, so you be patient!
-Louis C.K.

I think this is pretty relevant.
My muse of the day is that I totally used to be one of those "UGH JUST DISCIPLINE YOUR KID LIKE DUH MY PARENTS WOULDVE BEAT ME FOR THAT!"
which is true.

But I feel that as I get older and hang out with more kids I'm like.. seriously.. are we frikin animals like we can teach a dog to do the tango with a clicker but it's still totally OK to beat our kids to teach them to not touch skittles at the supermarket.

I don't have kids.. and I understand that there is a difference between spanking (pulling a child away from something that could hurt them or something and tapping them on the hands or bum) and actual HITTING out of frustration "STOP TOUCHING THAT RIGHT NOW LETS GO!!"

but recently I've kind of been like.. why not just talk to them? Like perhaps kids wouldn't "be cruel" or bully if they didn't learn that the way to deal with issues was with hitting and screaming.
