Convince him to move to Alberta and we are golden.

I've accepted that a good majority of the time I have to explain to the public that Goose is a Chow. I had not contemplated this being an issue with Brooks, because everyone knows what a Poodle is, right?

Wrong.

No one knows what a Poodle looks like.

Poodles are white, silly.

I was asked what breed Finn is today. When I said border collie, they said "oh! That's my breed, I've had them my whole life!"

Oh.... OK...

They also never have a puppy coat.

I think if he were in some sort of pattern cut they'd have an easier time. My enjoying his puppy coat while it's here is my downfall, it seems, lol.

AJ's got a bout of vestibular disease again that started tonight. After I finsihed Saxon's harness, I whipped up a quick "balance" harness for him to help him up and down stairs. I made it out of scraps, so it's many colors. But, that also means it's color coded...which means my mom can actually figure out how to put it on him! I never thought about color-coding harnesses before, but I know plenty of people who have problems figuring out harnesses. Even something as simple as "black goes ________, blue goes ___________" might work (AJ's has 4 colors).

A year ago tomorrow I brought Buzz to the neurologist because he was struggling to eat safely. He couldn't eat dry food and I had to hand feed him meatballs of soft food. He also had partial facial paralysis. The neurologist told me that Buzz was an old dog who'd lived a good life, and that he had no answers for me as to why this was happening.

Two other veterinary professionals both told me to have a thyroid panel run on him.

They were both right. Within a week of starting meds, he regained the ability to eat safely and his facial paralysis lessened. He had no outward signs in less than a month.

Buzz had a rough week last week but today he's feeling great and demanding attention. I really feel lucky to know such wonderfully knowledgeable people.

Here's a semi-recent picture of him.
